Has anyone mounted gauges in anything OTHER THAN the Lotek 2-gauge a-pillar one? http://gaugepods.com/jeep.html I searches "Gauge" and checked all 2389742934782 threads that came up and can't seem to find anything other than the Lotek one Has no one installed gauges in any other location?

I don't think there really is anywhere else to put an extra couple of gauges in the dash. If you were to place them on top, you'd be blocking either the speaker or defroster. Putting them in the middle would require the removal of your HVAC outlets. If you go any lower than that, you start losing visibility to the gauge. This is probably the main reason that there is only the A-pillar pod... |

And no disrespect intended but a setup like that, looks chessy with all of the exposed wires and mounting brackets. I understand the need for gauges that provide acurate feedback on critical systems - but I prefer a clean install or factory look. i.e. when you go to remove the gauges - there are now a couple of holes left behind.... With the pillar pod - you at least have the option to cover up any holes and the gauges are mounted cleanly. Edit: These are not of a liberty obviously - but here is the look I prefer... Before:

It just sucks for a couple reasons... 1) I REALLY don't want to lose the grab handle. It makes it really easy to get into the vehicle when you have to jump across 4 feet of mud onto the door sill and don't want to get your legs, up to the knee, muddy. 
2)I need my Air PSI gauge, Voltmeter (found a neat one with an air/fuel built into it), and was also wanting to get a temp gauge. Seems like they are NEVER going to get the 3-pod done, which means we're stuck with 2-pod unless someone wants to drop $1300+ to buy 30 and resell them. |

The Lotek dual gauge pod also causes a large blind spot when turning left. You have to be careful. With 3 gauges it would be really bad. |

What about getting a pod and mounting it upside down above the rear-view mirror? (Where the compass thing would be) Assuming you aren't too tall, I can't see it being in the way. I would like to mount my CB (when I get it) there on based a few peoples suggestions (I think moose?) -Mark |

nope. I measured it. Without doing some serious chopping, they won;t fit. only about 1.5" there. |

I was thinking of get a 3 gauge pod, and putting an oil pressure gauge, discharge, and a digital speedo. The last one cause since I have a 5sp, sometimes my left hand blocks the stock gauge, so I think a digital in the pod would be cool. Stephen |

No, but you can put some switches there.

I've got 5 gauges in my glovebox - works great. Just close the door, and no one knows they're there. I just put my junk in a lunch box under the seat, and a guy can still ride there with the door open, although usually I just open it to check them once in awhile. FWIW, they're: Tranny temp, Oil pressure, Volts, Ammeter, and Alternator output (amps). |

I have an overhead gauge pod I'm going to put behind/right of the rear view mirror. It's made for a Dodge truck but I've test fitted it and I think it will work. It's one of those projects I piddle with when I have time. My Jeep has been in the shop the last two weeks so I haven't gotten much done with it. I'm putting oil pressure, trans temp, water temp, and voltage there and turbo boost and EGT in an A-pillar mount (it's a diesel). I was going to do the same thing but with a 3 gauge pod and putting it where the EVIC goes. I would probably cut into the roof liner to make it really polished looking. Hence, the reason why it's not done. Either way should look pretty cool. A squadron of those autometer NEXUS gauges should really trick it out. Then I would have the boost and egt on the pillar, and all my fluids up top. Great idea by the way.
