| Post subject: | leaks! |
well heres whats going on. i have a 02 sport and wile i was changing my oil yesterday i noticed that there were 3 different leaks under there. none of them seam to be bad leaks no sign of fluids on the ground. well the first was my transfer case. i had noticed this leak a wile ago and tightend the bolts and refiled with fluid. it seams as thought the seal has gone bad and is leaking at the bolt under the drain plug. the other was around the drive shaft going to the front Diff. where it hooks to the front Diff. and a close look at things i notice a small leak around the bottom bolt where the transmission and motor is bolted together. this one bothers me the most!!!!!! has anyone had any of these issues? and whats the best way to fix them. is there anyway to do these fixes on my own or should i take it to a shop! |

If it is coming from the pan that the bolt is holding on then you might want to take it somewhere if you dont feel comfortable doing it yourself. If it is coming from the bolt than a quick fix (not the right fix but will work) would be to take the bolt out line the threads with some gasket maker seal and put the bolt back in. |

I think that your t-case is the adaptor seals, your diff leak is pinion seal, and I would actually guess that the small leak isn't anything but seepage. That is very common on all Jeeps. I have seen all kinds of TSBs on that. I was taught that is the area where you think it's leaking is clean w/ dirt and sludge around it you have a leak, but if you just have dirt and sludge then it's just a little seepage and nothing to worry about. Parakeet P.S. The Quicky Lube places will try and tell you that it's leaking when it's just seepage to make a quick buck. |
