I would have to say that Trans temp and bat. volt would be a great help.

Post subject:  Pod Gauges

I would agree on having the Batt Volt gauge, but I would prefer an Oil Press gauge for the second one in the Pod. I am disappointed that Jeep designers failed to include a full gauge cluster in the Liberty! All other Jeep models have the basic four gauges besides Speedo/Tach. Guess we're lucky we got a Tach!
They probably figured all those soccer mom's who buy Liberty's wouldn't care about oil press or volts. Just venting...........

It would be nice to have the oil press. also. My reason for having the trans. temp. is the fact that my light has come on a few times while trail riding.

Post subject:  Trans temp light...

WV... what did you do when your trans temp light came on? I haven't experienced that (yet) on my Liberty. This is my first auto tranny in 20 yrs! I will have to admit though. the auto is making wheelin' easier. I just wish I had more control over the shifting. Venting again...

Where can I find the gauge pod for the Lib? I gotz an 04 and have been looking for a three pod for somewhere in the Jeep. Can you fit a pod on the pillar with the handle there?

I tried to put in neutral when we come to a stop so that the fluids have a chance to circulate, or get on tyhe CB and say I need to find a tree so that I can let it sit. If I had a temp gauge I would know how high the temp was. Someone posted that the high elev. might have something to do with it since I am always in the mt.

Post subject:  Pillar Gauge Pods...

JUD 8) ... check out http://www.gaugepods.com. I think the pillar handle would have to go. :(

WV... I see where a trans temp gauge could be beneficial in your case to tie-break between flaky idiot light, bad sender/sensor, or an actual overheating problem. But it doesn't make sense that you would be overheating your tranny just doing simple 4-wheelin, and I really doubt elevation comes into play for lubricants. Isn't there some sort of trans oil cooler located in the lower portion of the radiator, or maybe a small trans radiator nearby? I don't have a shop manual yet. Check for any dirt or debris on the external cooling fins.

The oh poop handle goes when you put on the www.gaugepods.com gauge pod. It replaces the entire unit. Its a pretty simple install. I personally would go with Tranny temp and bat voltage, you can get some gauges that look pretty darn close to the stock ones in the Liberty, at least with a 02-04 cluster.

Take it easy ya'll,

Adam the Italian
