Is it normal for parts under the hood to be rusted on a brand new Liberty? I can't remember what all was rusted right now, but there were some bolts rusted on the tips, the wheels for the serpentine belt were rusted, and some other parts. I wasn't concerned about it, but since I'm having other problems with the manual tranny I thought I would ask. |

It's definitely normal on TJs. Driveshafts, steering boxes, etc... they'll show surface rust, right on the dealer's lot. |

Almost all engine components will obtain a generous coating of surface rust because of the extreme enviornment that they operate in. The black paint that is used on pulleys, bolts, exhaust, etc is just a beauty coating to make any vehicle look prestine on the dealer lot (or showroom) There is absoultely nothing wrong with those components Edit: Spelling |
