mine is kinda sloppy lots of clicks before it grabs. is there a wing nut in the center console somewhere to tighten it up? i would like 3-4 clicks before it locks up if possible.

I've never had a look at the park brake lever on the Liberty but typically there is a nut / screw setup to adjust the cable tension on the 1st cable [the one that runs between the lever and two brake cables]

You can also adjust the parking brake shoes to increase the amount of tension at the inside of the rear disk backing plate. ATXKJ (I think it was him) has a nice picture of it in the "need brake help ASAP" thread.

Ive adjusted my pads and it didnt help. I can look down into the console and see the slack in the cable. I can pull the handle up a good inch before the cable even starts to move. I was thinking about taking the console up this weekend to see if I can find a way to tighten it up. 8)

Ah, if it's similar to my '05 console you'll need to remove four screws. Two inside the flip-up box, one under the t-case lever cover and one under the shifter cover. You'll need some soft plastic tool to pry open the covers. Miller Special Tools has the C-4755 or you can just use plastic knife :)

Just make sure you don't tighten the cable to much, don't want the parking brake to drag and cause early failure.I'd think a inch of play before the p.brake ingages with the handle would be about dead on.
