Well it's sad but I had to trade the Liberty back in after a short time. I just couldn't aford the gas milage it was getting (16) for as much as I drive. My new car gets 24 mpg and it's a big weight off my shoulders. It was fun while it lasted though. Thanks to everyone for being friendly and helping out when I needed it. So long.

well with that kind of mileage, i'm guessing he didn't get back into a jeep :P

Don't worry man, i've had the same internal conflict for a while too... the mileage on these puppies really is garbage

Gas prices dropping.........

The joy of a KJ compared to a car.......

How far from work do you live? Perhaps driving less and walking, riding a bike, or getting a used scooter would've eased gas costs. If you lived a fair distance from work, find a safe parking area 5-10 miles from work and ride a bike or scooter in the rest of the way. Tha t would save 10-20 miles a day AND get your exercise if riding a bike.

I would sacrifice the comfort of driving to work by doing those things above, to keep my KJ. 20 mile bike to work would be my limit. I hate getting up really early.

Did you get that uh........Jeep.....uh.....Compass? We'll let you keep your forum nickname if you did.........

I feel your pain. I tried selling mine a few months back for the exact same situation, but with no luck. In my situation, I'm grateful no one wanted it, but I hope you enjoy your new ride.

for most of us with the 02 kj's with a boatload of miles on them, we pretty much are the last owners because unfortunately trading in is not an option considering we get about 4 or 5k. so my plans are to keep th kj till it honorably dies.

Meh. I'm improving but not there just yet... still getting like 18 in the city. Highway is a different story though. :)

My sister is also sick of the mileage on her Liberty... but she just can't get over how much it is a "beast" in the snow, without even using 4WD. :D

I think we all are... I'm sick of the mileage on my diesel Liberty, but what else is there to drive? ;)

You guys call the KJ old?

I remember like it was yesterday looking at this Khaki '02 Renegade on the dealer lot that I fell in love with.

When gas was $1.29. :)

Please don't trade in your jeep due to the price of gas unless you are REALLY UP AGAINST IT. I traded my KJ in when the price of petro went up a few years back. I hated the rig sooo much that I went out and bought another KJ :) From a fiscal standpoint, I would have been WAAYYY ahead sticking with the first KJ and adjusting the budget elswhere. I have determined that hell will be driving a car you cannot stand

You'll get another one. :) When I can afford It I am going to either get another 02 Limited in black or a limited black CRD.

Because that's what my parents bought for my brothers and I. Don't get me wrong, it's a great little truck and I like it a lot, but if I were given a choice between a new KJ like mine and a one or two year old a4 or 3 series I would take the car.

i loved my jetta gli alot, i still think its the best car ever, but too many tickets and high insurance rates forced me to sale it. Thats when i got the KJ, the KJ is def. no where in the vacinity of how fast the jetta was, but it can do something the car couldn't and thats go thru mud and over rocks! I am more than happy with the exchange!!! :D  :D

See that's why I was pumped about the liberty at first. When I got down to thinking about it, though, I really have no use for the "rock crawling" feature  . AWD cars can easily handle the winters here and there is really no area that is entertaining to drive "off road."

I'm certianly not bashing it (I drive one after all  ) I'm just saying that a car would probably be more fun in this area.

well unfortunately the A4 (2.8, 1.8T, 2.0T, and 3.0) or ANY of the 3 series (including the M3) aren't exactly pavement scorchers either. All of them, except for the M3 and S4 are pretty much entry level models and suffer from the i just want the car for the name badge (BMW/AUDI) symbol. I love my KJ, but i also come from a tuner background where i have driven everything from 11 second drag cars to full out cicruit cars... and let me tell you hunting yuppies rolling their glorified econo cars is one of my favorite passtimes. That's why i kept my track/street car for fun, and the KJ for wheelin and everday. Before i start gettin flamed about "OHH WHAT DO YOU DRIVE THERE SUPERSTAR!?"... Yea i drive a civic as my "toy", and guess what... blowing the doors off of high end exotics and other expensive cars never gets old, especially when you see the yuppies face who's drivin it!
