Why discuss the 2007 KJ?

Author:  2006KJSPORT4x4 [ Thu Apr 12, 2007 3:22 pm ]
Post subject:

I see a question already I'd like to ask....why did the spare tire get moved off the tailgate and UNDER the rig??

Author:  jcphoto20 [ Thu Apr 12, 2007 3:53 pm ]
Post subject:

why are they even bothering?

people voiced all their complaints about the liberty all along. and while i happen to think its quite roomy, only the increase in interior space that some folks wanted was addressed in the new one.

who gets a bonus at DC for acting like they care?

x2, it's already on the market and being driven, if they need feedback why not just send a survey to all the current owners?

EXACTLY!

It is a chance to give feedback for future Jeeps.

For Instance:

They should have used the look of the TrailHawk in place of the Compass. If you are going to go into the car market, make it stand out. Just imagine a smaller version of the TrailHawk with the SRT4 Turbo and AWD.

If they are going to make the Liberty look like a H3, then make it BEAT the H3 in offroad prowess. Aim at your competition and shoot them down!

What kind of offroad vehicle has a "donut spare"? All 4WD Jeeps should have "full size spares"...PERIOD!

Take a lesson from the KJ CRD and realize that Americans are begging for a Diesel 4WD that is affordable...ie $25,000 range not $40,000!

The Patriot could have been something with a small diesel as an option or even the 3.6L V6 already available in many DC cars.

And lastly, where is the Jeep Truck? Even a TK with just a small extended cab and a 6" bed would work...

agree completely Darby, you never know waht they are looking at doing next, maybe making something along the lines of the current liberty only more trail rated. I think they have a start with some of the new models so lets see if we cant help them with the vehicles of 2010 or so, you know with wings, rocket pods....  At least they asked us to join in the fun!

Post subject:  ANNOUNCEMENT: Jeep® Engineering Web Event April 18, 2007

To those of you who’ve courageously defended the “online event” as a concept - Thank You!!!

Believe it or not, I understand the cynicism, but there are people that care what you guys think... That's why we’re hosting a Q&A session. That's why I posted the announcement.

The idea to do this came out of the Jeep Engineering group. It's a purely voluntary after-hours kinda’ gig; you know a bunch of engineers in a computer packed room with cold pizzas and warm soda... They're doing this because they really want to. These guys are providing an open platform for fair intelligent discussion.

The event on 4/18 affords participants the opportunity to ask questions about the Jeep Liberty while setting the expectation of having their question(s) answered by someone directly responsible for designing the vehicle. We’re talking online real-time interaction.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for the responses to my announcement, even though some of the initial posts weren't as "enthusiastic" as I'd hoped. For those of you who are interested feel free to attend and participate.

I hope to "see" you on the 18th.

It's been real...

They did the same thing a few weeks ago only they were discussing the 07 Wrangler. Any time someone asked a question about a future product, they were given the standard "We can't reveal our future plans at this point". So if you want to ask about the 08 Liberty KK, don't bother attending. They were very good at answering the questions on the 07 Wrangler though. Stuff about the changes to the lockers on the Rubi to questions about the 3 piece hardtop. However, since the KK is still several months away from production, they may yet make a few changes based on your comments about the current platform, i.e. what things you like and would like to see carried forward. It would also be a good opportunity to get answers about all the new electronics in the Liberty like the ESP and roll mitigation. If you really like your current Liberty, it would probably be a good idea to attend.

See they are trying, so lets see what happens. You never know who is reading the posts on here. Maybe like the guy who stopped by the other night just to "look at my Liberty" I have a few retired Jeep employees in the neighborhood and one of the "front line ?" guys was visiting and wanted to see what I had done and changed to make mine better. Yes he has been on the site here as well before "just reading" I am willing to give them a little time.
Thanks for posting on here jeepinfocenter!

Jeep Info Center:

Just out of curiosity, would the engineers be interested in setting up a KJ questions/answers session?

There are a few discussions about the ESP feature and it's function, especially related to those of us who are driving the 5 and 6 speed manuals. One guy was so upset with his manual and the way it drove (with the ESP) that he traded it in on an auto. Others have simply complained about it (myself included) and the way that it makes the vehicle near dangerous to drive in the winter. (it removes all power to the engine for a second or two, especially when pulling into the traffic and one needs to accelerate, and has almost caused accidents)

I understand that this is not the forum to discuss this, we have a thread about turning off the ESP in this section.

Should one of your engineers be available to discuss the workings of this feature and how to better deal with it, we would all appreciate the enlightenment.

Other than that, thanks for inviting us to the open forum, and I hope that I haven't opened a can of worms on this issue.
There is also another thread about the same topic, here is the link: ESP, Traction control, trajectory control, nannies....

Any help from DCX on this particular issue would be something we would all love to hear from someone who perhaps helped develop the feature, or has a better understanding of what it is intended to do, and how it is supposed to help us. After all, I know that some people are over riding this feature by simply pulling the ABS fuse out, and maybe if it was understood why not to do that, less people would do that and put other drivers at risk. (and the ABS fuse thing is something that I heard that DOdge Magnum owners have been doing to override the ESP, I don't think that anyone here has done that)

Thanks x1,000
-Mark
P.s: if we chip in for the pop and pizza, can we have the engineers visit us next time

P.P.s. I am just a regular old board member trying to make suggestions for the better good, if you can do something to have someone over here to go over the ESP with us, a moderator would be the one to arrange it with/thru.

But why are we going to discuss the 2007 KJ? Jeep or DC has already come out with the 2008 KK and dropped the KJ for it. What would be the point of talking about something that is gone in a few months? Shouldn't we talk about the 2008 KK? It won't make any sense for those that own 2004 and older models to attend then. We don't have those little things the 05's-07's have.

We won't change the spare tire location or the headlights. As an `04 owner, I am not sure I know what my input would have. It seems more like it is best suited for the `07 owners only since they have first hand experience.

Just asking. I don't understand the reason. Not lashing out.

I do want to thank you for this, just not sure how those of us with older models can give fair and experienced input for an `07 model.
