Just undo the 2 torx bit screws. Then pull the tail light straight back. It will take some effort the first time.

The first time I took mine off I thought sure there had to be at least another screw in there somewhere but just pulled a little harder and it popped off.

The outer edge slides in there in some way...I just lighty pried on the edge with a screw driver and it slowly popped out.

It was pretty scary the first time I done it. It takes hell of a pull to get it outta there, but it gives sooner or later. Just rock it a little to make some groove for your finger, and loosen the clips.

The wires have enough slack to come out a ways maybe 4 to 6 inches cant remember suppose I could go out and remove mine to see but too lazy tonight, but no you do not have to remove the bulbs first
