This came out of the area where my factory air box used to be, but I have no recollection of removing or even seeing it anywhere. If anyone has a part number guide book, could they look it up, or send me a link to where I can find a part by the numbers? Thanks!

That's odd, they're showing up for me...and my computer is a POS! I wonder if this board isn't compatible with Kodak Gallery, perhaps? Dunno, thaks for looking though!

Try photobucket, free and works fine.

Wherever you have them stored doesn't allow "hot-linking" but, if you just right click and select view image, you can see them.

At any rate, I have no idea what that is, either. I've never seen it before, that I know of, anyway.

I changed them to links since the pics didn't want to show up. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the hand! When I click on the links it comes up with a white screen that says "FORBIDDEN" in big black letters, though - I can't even look at my own pictures :-)r I think I'll try photobucket, to!

Looks like the piece that goes that goes down in the oil fill tube. I always pull mine up out when changing oil to let the oil go down faster maybe thats what someone else did

Ok, so my next stupid question is, why does it go in the oil filler tube, and what purpose does it serve? It's been out now for around 50,000 miles. I found it while installing my K&N CA kit. I just found it again while rearranging my work bench. I'm going to assume it's not very essential since I've had no problems with my KJ.

I have no idea what its purpose is. I'm assuming it's some type of baffle or something. Maybe so the oil doesn't spash up to the pcv? I dont really know. :?

Since we're on the topic of oil...I went to put this thing into my oil fill tube and much to my surprise, there was no more white foamy stuff all over the oil cap. I posted earlier in the month that I put 1/3 can Seafoam in the oil after doing the "engine flush". It says on the can that Seafoam is supposed absorb moisture in the oil, however being 100% petroleum based I didn't know whether or not to believe that claim. Apparently it's true! Several people have told me that the white foam is a result of moisture in the oil. Well, I'm a believer and now Seafoam is going to become part of my toolbox!

Seafoam is fantastic stuff for sure.

The plastic tube indeed is designed to prevent oil from sloshing (or splashing?) up into the PCV where it could potentially be injected into the intake. But the oil fill tube is pretty tall so I am not too sure how much oil could possibly make it into the PCV.

Sounds good. I put it back in last night, so we'll see if it makes any difference in the way the motor runs. Thanks for the answers!

Just be sure you do not use seafoam at every oil change. Its made to clean the engine out. Usually people will add it to the oil around 500miles or so before they change the oil to clean things out. :)
