Do you think these would lower underhood temps?

It was 85 outside when I started my short drive of about 5 miles one way. I let the temp. sensor set for a few minutes in the airbox before hitting the road. The driving speeds varied between 45 and 55mph. Start Temp: 102.7 1/2 way mark: 93.4 Finish: 110.7 On the way back: 123.8 (after setting for 15 min.) 1/2 way mark: 103.6 Home: 95.2 The KJ measured the outside temperature. I was surprised that the airbox temp. didn't drop more when I was going 55. Terry |

They may help. Any venting might help get rid of some heat. I am not sure it would be a huge benefit. In any case...you would end up with some cool lookin vents in your hood.

I guess those are functional, does the company give any idea of how much heat they let out, or how much they force air into the engine compartment to cool? I don't think I would want to cut holes in the hood unless the louvers had a major impact. |

Come to think of it, my 280z had vents like that and you could feel a lot of engine heat coming out of them when it was sitting still. Don't know if that changed drastically at speed. |

A very easy and free way to reduce underhood temps if to remove the rubber gasket at the back of the hood in front of the cowling... I was 4Wheelin' a few years ago in Corpus Christi in the dunes and an older Grand Cherokee was having tranny/engine overheating problems. I told him to remove the "weather stripping" and he was fine the rest of the day. |

You may also want to look at Header and Exhaust wrap (you can wrap and shield the factory exhaust manifolds, even if you don't have true "headers"). It will reduce engine bay temps, and increase exhaust velocity/efficiency. |
