Anyone ever replace a rear tail light assembly? I'm just wondering because I cracked the outside reflector plate (cover/red part) backing into my dads truck yesterday  and I was wanting to know if I could order that as a replacement part or if I would have to just order the whole tail light assembly. I hoping thats not the case. Hopefully someone can help me...Thanks!

You probably will have to order the whole assembly since that cover is glued (or welded or fused) on to the backing plate...

Try ebay or a junk yard for an original without having to pay full price for a new Mopar piece

removing the taillamps is real easy, open rear swinggate and remove 2 (t20 I think) torx bit screws and pull out. Then unlpug wires and put new one in.You do need a whole taillight assembly, junkyard(like sleeve84028 said) would be the best bet.

I replaced my rear tailight, and it came all together with bulbs. I bought it off of E-bay, brand new in the box Mopar. I don't remember what I paid for it, but I'm thinkin it was about half of a dealership one.

Ok...I figured I would have to go look for one at the junkyard. Thanks for the replies guys.

I just replaced one of mine today. I backed into a tree while trailing *thanks partner*

Picked up a replacement for $50 shipped on ebay!

Anyway, couldnt be easier. The problem I ran into was that the white grommet that the two swell plugs fit into was shattered, so I only have one at the bottom, but the two torx screws (T20) hold it in tight.

One thing I love about Jeeps is that they seem really, really easy to work on.
