scheme up and extremly elaborate rope and pully system that runs through your house and possibly your neighbors in order to lift the axle up in the air.
I can't guarantee it'll work but the look on a neighbors face when they see that have a pully system going through there bathroom would be top notch. Plus its just completely unessecary.

Why not? I dont start my summer job till next Monday and I was bored. We all know you do stupid things when you are bored. Ive always wanted to paint it since its really the only thing thats rusty under there, so Im doing it! I wish I could do the front suspension but I just dont have it in me. I would need to do the clevis fork, lower control arm(may be able to do it while its on the Jeep), and spindle. Took me around 2hours or so to get it all off. I plan on doing the A-Arm, axle, and lower control arms. Hopefully regular paint will be ok for the rear axle. It says it can be on surfaces that do not get over 200F and Im fairly sure an axle doesnt get that hot. The engine only gets around 210F or so. Ill sand it all real good then lay down some primer. Next Ill put on a cost of regular rust-oleum satin black then Ill put some rust-oleum textured flat on it. I already had two cans of the textured and I couldnt find anymore of it at walmart tonight so I figured a coat of satin under it would be ok. I like the textured look and feel. I painted my front skid plate in it. Anyway, on to the pics. My tools.. Ive got everything I need in the set. anything it didnt have, Ive gotten and keep in it. Kitty must check all the work I do: I got some thread lock for the drive line and upper a-arm balljoint. I noticed they had some when I took them off so I got some to put back on them. Got the Lithium for the ebrakes. Ive heard some people have been having problems with them locking up, so Im going to clean them up good and put that on them.. So, who thinks Im over doing it? I sat on my creeper before I started wondering if it was worth it. Now that Ive gotten into it, I think Ill really like it when its done. As many people know, Im a huge detailing freak and often detail my engine and underbody.. So this will suit me good. Ill probably shoot some paint on the front of the lower control arms since I can see them when looking at the front of the Jeep. They are starting to rust some from mud and such offroad wearing the paint off I guess..

Also, does anyone know the torque specs for the driveline, upper A-Arm bracket and balljoint, and both bolts for the lower control arms? If no one does, thats ok, Ill just get them nice and tight. Hopefully the auto torque adjuster in my arm is working good.

Man talk about really being bored if I would of known I could of brought mine down for you to detail or something!! I mean I never get that bored well wait I did pull the ARB off the other day just to do some stupid stuff, pulled the front suspension off to try a couple of tricks, man I may be as bad as you. Mines already painted by the way. Most of it a metallic grey, wheel paint. Tom

When the fastener gets tight enough for you to grunt....you just say "CLICK" instead,and that should be proper tourqe. Ron

Haha, sometimes being bored can be a good thing. Thats when I always get things done that Ive wanted to do. Next on the list is a muffler. Ive always wanted one and I AM getting one. Then a shift kit. Ill put that in when i change the oil next time. Im at 26k right now and 30k is coming up very slow.. So I may change it early. Plugs will need changing at 30k along with the front and rear diff and tcase. I think thats it. Only scare I had when when I was dropping the axle down. I didnt think that thing weighed that much and I hadnt gotten the speed sensor unhooked yet. I just couldnt get that stupid clip off. I figured I could get to it after I let it down some but the thing feel off the jack! I couldnt move the freaken thing. Anyway, the speed sensor pulled some lines down going to the gas tank with it when the axle fell but I think they are ok. They were plastic lines and they just bent down then went back up when I got the sensor unhooked. I bet that axle weighs 250-300lbs. Im not a really strong guy, but I usually can move stuff like that but I cant move the freaken thing. Idk how Im going to paint it since no one will be home tomorrow.. I was wanting to hang it from an old ball goal in the yard but Idk if I can get it up there. Then it will probably pull the goal down!

Just think, when it is all done you will have the nicest looking rear in the neighborhood.... ....will at least your Jeep will. I get bored enough to do stuff like this too but I usually sit around long enough to talk my self out of it.

Jeepster, Aren't you a college student? Shouldn't you be looking for an internship or something? Man, I remember when I had free time... two kids and a wife ago. Well, I still have the wife and kids. You know what I mean! Good luck with the painting. Don't hurt yourself with that axle. It'll be hard to drive with only one had or one foot.

Aww man c'mon Blake....do some radical new color like hot pink or electric green! I would love to do this to mine because I have a lot of rust, but I just dont have the time nor could I figure out a color (not black for me). I really like the color that Troy (tjkj2002) did to his control arms/skids...it really stands out. Good luck and be careful!

Nothing wrong with a little creative painting in my opinion.... Whenever I get frustrated working on the TJ I start shooting whatever can of rustoleum I have on hand at whatever I'm working on... usually I try not to hit anything that people notice, though. It's my way of making fun of all the overly macho-cheezy jeepers out there... This is the first day I got my new (to me) front axle in. I never got around to painting the rear when I swapped it, but i wish I had. This factory skid/crossmember is on it's last legs, so I thought I'd have a little fun when I pulled it to flatten it out a little and change a broken tranny mount.

Yeah man, why stick to black?.. Paint it blue to match the color of your jeep. It will show the dirt better so you can clean it easier next time. Axle on the floor.. LMAO.

I came REALLY close to getting some blue paint at walmart. It looked like it matched my Jeep fairly well, but I didnt do it. Maximum Carnage, it wasnt all that bad really. I left the lower control arms on the Jeep but brought the upper A-Arm off with the axle as you can see. I couldnt figure out how to get that upper ball joint out at the time, but it would of been alot easier if I would of gotten it off. You must take the bolt all the way out of the balljoint b/c there is a notch in the joint. Ill take a pic of that. Also, like I said, I couldnt get the stupid clip off the speed sensor and I thought for sure it has broke those gas lines when it fell since the wire was clips to the lines. Be sure to have an extra set of hands to move that thing around once you do get it off. I have all the tools on hand which saved alot of time. I start my summer job this monday. I start at 6am and get off between 5pm and 7pm or so.. Working in the coal mines.. So all you 'suit' people can kiss it! Sitting at your desks in Air Conditioned buildings! Just think of me when its 100F outside and you know Im outside shoveling coal or something.
