So when you see a dark khaki KJ, what color do you see? My sister-in-law thinks it is charcoal. I've always thought it was a deep greenish brown. If the light is just right I see forest green. Maybe it's the pearl coat playing tricks on me but what color do you see? ![]() |

Khaki means mud in the Zulu language. So dark greenish brown is probably right. Which brings me to another point... Khaki is a color, chino is a style of pants. you can buy khaki chinos, but you cannot buy black khakis! ![]() |

Funny story... I ordered mine by pointing to the color I wanted on the dlr lot. Paid and came by to pick it up. Out rolls a brownish/greenish KJ. I take one look at it and say "That's not the one I wanted. Mine is greener!" Dlr says, "It says Khaki on your invoice. That's what we got you plates for!" I say "I don't care what my invoice says, I pointed to a greener one and I'm not taking that one!" Turns out there was a Khaki one sitting next to a Cactus one when I picked it out. I wanted the cactus one, they wrote up the Khaki one. When we discussed it there was enough similarity in the color names that we were each talking about a different color and neither of us realized it. The thing that put it in my favor was the fact that I indicated the Renegade package and the Khaki one didn't have it while the Cactus one did. Needless to say, I got the 03 Cactus Rennie I wanted. |

Just kidding...... No I'm not..... Go Light Khaki! ![]() Hey tokyo, does light khaki have have crushed pearl like the dark khaki? |

Why would you want crushed pearl. A whole pearl has more value. I wouldn't know if it did or not. When I got mine new, it seems to have a differnt type of shine to it than a basic color shade. |

dark khaki = awesome thats the color i wanted for sure, but when you buy used, you dont always get that much choice. especially because d. kahki is a bit of a rare color methinks. |

I see a BRIGHT yellow bumber! Is there really a Jeep in that pic? ![]() I got lucky when I got mine they had just put a D. Khaki KJ on the lot when I went to buy. I'll have to agree with the dark greenish brown. |

I think I'd have to argue that its greenish brownish grey. The color is pretty neutral to actually be considered brown or green...[/b] |

One of the issues with Computer photos is that they change based on the screen you're looking at - at home that photo was almost dark brown - at work it's much lighter.... The crushed pearl / pearlescent colors are intended to refract light and give a slightly differnt color depending on the intensity and direction of the light, so it could look green under the right light. - at any point - it looks good - I like the yellow bumpers too. |

When I went out to buy a KJ I told them that I wanted pretty much any other color than Dark Khaki. In 05, it was the only color that they charged extra for and I certainly didn't want to pay extra for a color. But the only one outfitted the way I wanted it was the Dark Khaki one. After I talked them down far enough to not care if they were charging me for the color or not...I fell in love with the color. A lot of pictures make the color look charcoal (dark grey). But it's really much more of a nice dark brown with a hint of green in it. Cool color. ![]() ![]() |

I think it's about the only color of auto you can't classify with one of few primary colors. It tends to look alot more green right after a wash. I would be interested to see the colors that go into formula. |
