Hey everybody just wondering if anybody has trouble with the Trans temp light coming on when in four wheel drive? How often does your light come on? Is it trouble down the road? Any info on this appreciated. Thanks :D

Usually that means the tranny is shifting to much and should be limited to a lower gear. This could also mean 4low should be used... Or maybe the tranny is just over heating? Ive been offroad in near 100F and Ive never had the light on..

Comes on all the time here in Colorado. Typically, steep climbs at high altitude cause it...

Use 4-low when going slow (<10-15mph) on steep grades. I've four-wheeled in colorado many times up to and past 13,000 feet and never had it come on.

Works great unless you're on a road that has a speed limit of 20+ mph. What Eddo says is correct...I've never had it come on while in 4-low. Unfortunately, you can't always be in 4-low. It usually happens while you are trying to get to the trail and not once you are actually on it.

This actually happened yesterday to TokyoJoe on a local run.

I live in south Louisiana and wheel in the 95*+ heat all the time with the AC on
the trans temp light has never come on
How ever I also always wheel in 4lo and first gear so the trany never swiches from gear to gear and when I stop I go to Neutral to avoid as much slipage as I can

Try it and see
I know that doing this in the TJ will help keep the inside cooler and I would guess the same on the KJ but the KJ is always cooler on the inside
