This past weekend while changing out the transmission fluid, I installed a Fumoto drain valve on my tranny pan. Has anyone else done this?

I bought the F107N from Greg at Lubrication Specialist a couple weeks ago. The threads on the F107 are 12mm-1.75. I borrowed a metric tap set from a friend. This was somewhat unnecessary because the pan is so thin- an appropriately-sized drill bit would have worked fine.

I tapped the hole, test fit the threads, and made sure everything was good and clean. Then I applied some red threadlock ($5 @ Advance Auto Parts) and threaded it together. If I had located the hole further away from the corner of the pan, that might have been enough, but since I wanted the drain point as low as possible, there wasn't enough flat surface and some JB Weld was necessary. I put a ring of it around the threads inside the pan and let it cure overnight.

In hindsight, I wish I'd put a nut on the inside and then coated that with JB Weld. I still plan on putting some JB Weld on the outside of the pan, just for safe measure.

I installed a drain plug in my tranny pan when I installed the shift kit. If you put the plug in the deepest part of the pan, so more fluid will be able to drain out, there should be plenty of clearance. There are no moving parts exposed in the pan.
