HI there, I'm new here, and I don't own a KJ, and don't know if I ever will. I'm part of the JK-forum, and I came across this petition on there to help keep public lands open for public use. I just though I'd spread the word. We need to get as many signatures as possible. ThanksImage

Been there, done that. Here's my post about it from the JK board:

You know...I'm sooooo RIGHT DOWN THE CENTER on issues like this...the fact of the matter is that I live just off a heavily used OHRV trail- and during the spring/summer/early fall, I can't watch TV because the damned dirtbikes are out there destroying the trail and causing massive erosion, not to mention scaring off all the wildlife. I hate the people who go out and destroy trails, and disrespect "closed", "private property", or "no tresspassing" signs, especially when it's in my backyard (of course in NH I have the right to shoot them  ) or it's for no purpose other than to get muddy (that mud came from the ground, and it's not there anymore-that's erosion) or to get some cheap thrills. I bought my Jeep as transportation into the backcountry on legal trails and Class VI roads, to haul more gear farther than I could on foot. I love people who show a good example for the rest of the world, and follow the principles of Tread Lightly. I'll go out mountain biking, but instead of going out to get muddy, I go out to have a good time.
I fully understand where the people who want to ban vehicular access are coming from - I agree with them in many situations, but I don't think that it should be a universal ban-just that it should be well-regulated and the regulations should be enforced. Here in NH, we have a few wilderness areas that are ABSOLUTLEY 100% off-limits to ALL machinery- bikes, jeeps, trucks- anything- it's foot access only- and I really enjoy that fact, and I don't think that me, you, or anyone else should be able to spoil that.

I fully endorse going out and having a good time on your own land/land that you have permission to use though- like Moab. Bikers, hikers and Offroaders all get along there just fine (most of the time) on the rocks. It's such a complicated issue that I really can't explain my views effectivley.
Edit: I did sign the petition though.
