Finally got my Super Skink Sliders on. I thought the colour was going to be darker, closer to the plastic. Haven't had a chance to see if the slide or not yet.

gatorator, how is the support bar attached to the pinch weld? Did the plastic piece that butts up to the outside of the pinch weld flange get in the way? Have to be removed for the install and then put back on, etc, I understood that on the "older" models the support bar was on the outside of the pinch flange where the plastic is now. I am looking to buy and want to understand. Thanks, |

Here are the instructions for installing my skink sliders. You don't have to remove the plastic trim, just make a slight modification and some sheet metal screws and the trim is up out of the way of the pinch mount. I got your email and will respond in a few minutes. http://www.rocklizardfabrications.com/i ... s_05kj.htm http://www.rocklizardfabrications.com/instructions.htm |

Thanks RL ,I learned alot reading you instruction. I have a couple of questions though I have the factory Mud Flaps front and rear. (Just A Pet Peave the trash on the Colorado Highways from light sand to heavy gravel get thrown up into wind sheilds all the Time so I put on the Mud Flaps.) I can see where these are not very trail freindly on a KJ, but I just do not want to be throwing crap up into others windshield after a snow storm melt off. Do these have to go to install the Sliders or just some creative Dremmel work??? |

so do these require all of the bolts into the pinch weld? or just the bolts into the stock holes like the OEM rails? |

Pinch weld and frame. Rush: What year is your KJ? If `04 and older, then you don't have anything to worry about. They don't extend as far as the newer model KJ's. I can't answer about the newer KJ's and the Skinks w/ relation to mud flaps. |

I can't answer about the newer KJ's and the Skinks w/ relation to mud flaps. My KJ is an '02 Sport 4x4, I'm interested in the super Skinks. Years ago I had another 4x4 but put running boards on for no other reason then to stop people from opening their car doors into me in the parking lot. I don't mind trail rash but dummys who open their car doors into my ride are just rude. If I'm going to do damage to my ride I want it to be by my hand not some pimply face kid who could care less about other peoples property. |

those that have these... will they stop the door dings from others who swing their doors open and let it hit our KJs? |

No they don't stop those pesky door dings. One great thing to add on to this is Grip Tape. It works great, I just added some to mine a few weeks ago. Comes in different sizes.

Its kinda hard to get a ding if you have a sport. Thats one thing I would like about them, it doesnt matter who you park side of, its not going to hurt the paint. |

That's true! I've noticed some scuff marks on that strip on the side of the door, but it doesn't dent like the sheet metal does. |

I really like those with the grip tape added. I'll be ordering a set out of the next batch RL makes. Going to need something to step on to get the skis off the roof once the Frankenlift gets here. On the topic of the door strip, has anyone with Limiteds tried getting the strips Line-X'd? I hate all the chips I get in them. |
