Since chat isn't available here yet I went ahead and set up an IRC channel for us to talk on. The server is network.mystical.net and the channel is #lostkjs. If anyone has a problem with this, just let me know! ![]() |

I know there are some web-based IRC clients but usually you connect to IRC with a stand-alone client like mIRC ( http://www.mirc.com )or Pirch ( http://www.pirchat.com ). So FreedomKJ's pointer to the server wouldn't be a link to follow, rather it would be entered into the IRC client as a server to hit and find the channel on. For those who aren't familiar w/ IRC, it's older than the web. It's kinda like the Ham Radio of the 'net in that it's an older technology that is still adhered to by loyal fans and geeks. A very cool and underappreciated technology for sure. Hope this helps. |

Seth explained it pretty well. mIRC is probably the easiest to use for those not familiar with IRC. It's fun to play with and I've spent a lot of time on linux based channels gettting help with miscellaneous issues. |

I was an IRC freak for a long time. Writing custom bots, gabbing w/ folks from all over the planet. When the Web first came together I used to use IRC as an example of how cool the 'net could be and that a bunch of text files linked together sounded like a big HyperCard application that would never catch on. Wow, I hope I'm never that wrong about anything again!! ![]() |

pie is delicious...moreso with a good cup of coffee go to one of the links I included in my previous post. download the client. they all work the same. you'll have a place in the client app to enter a server address and once the server is connected to you'll get a list of "channels". look for #lostkjs. from there it's just like using Yahoo! or MSN messenger clients. |
