Post subject:  It's Raining Bicycles/Dent Removal
So, first off I no longer recommend purchasing the Swagman Roof Bike Rack that I bought recently. They were about $40 each and claimed to hold bike with a load bar of up to 3inches. Well, I had a test run today and the bike with the regular frame did okay, but not the one with the 3-inch frame. The clamp never seemed to fit quite right. I tightened the clamp as well as I could, but it came undone while I was going 60mph. The bike swung down and the pedal of the bike dented the rear passenger door. Just missed the window. If the bike had fallen the other way it would have landed on my safari rack with little or no issues :roll:

While the dent will give me a story to tell, I'd really prefer to get rid of it and forget the whole thing ever happened. The dent is in an area where it would seem I would have to drill a hole on the inner part of the door to try to push the dent out from the inside with a blunt object. Is this a crazy idea?

The paint doesn't seem to be chipped, so with a little direction I hope I can pull this off. Someone also once told me to hold dry-ice up to a dent to pull it out ... anyone here ever try that?

Several here have posted videos from web sites that show freezing the area with dry ice or an inverted can of "Dust Off" type product which is basically compressed CO2. Then you come right back with a heat gun or hair dryer and the dent pops out. Do a search for perhaps CO2 dent removal.

Good idea, but it didn't work for me. My dent made it into the crease in the metal the goes around the windows. I think that's keeping it from popping back out.

No way that method would work on a body panel like that. That would work for a mild dent out in the open.. like the middle of a door or the hood.

There is something called PDR. Paintless dent repair. They would probably need to drill some holes on the inside of the door(door jamb) to pop it back out. Idk if it would work in that area. You may want to look through the yellow pages and see if you can find anything and get a quote.

there is a company locally called Dent Wizard and they can remove crazy dents, even ones with creases by working the meta, no painting necessary, it's is really quite amazing, I didn't believe it till I watched it done. You might want to try those guys out, I had 6 dents fixed for $100

I just hope I can find somebody who's that reasonable. I just found out that a neighbor down the street does paintless dent removal, but he's been pretty hard to catch at home since it's so close to the 4th.
