So, first off I no longer recommend purchasing the Swagman Roof Bike Rack that I bought recently. They were about $40 each and claimed to hold bike with a load bar of up to 3inches. Well, I had a test run today and the bike with the regular frame did okay, but not the one with the 3-inch frame. The clamp never seemed to fit quite right. I tightened the clamp as well as I could, but it came undone while I was going 60mph. The bike swung down and the pedal of the bike dented the rear passenger door. Just missed the window. If the bike had fallen the other way it would have landed on my safari rack with little or no issues
While the dent will give me a story to tell, I'd really prefer to get rid of it and forget the whole thing ever happened. The dent is in an area where it would seem I would have to drill a hole on the inner part of the door to try to push the dent out from the inside with a blunt object. Is this a crazy idea?
The paint doesn't seem to be chipped, so with a little direction I hope I can pull this off. Someone also once told me to hold dry-ice up to a dent to pull it out ... anyone here ever try that?
