Does anyone have any experiance with this product? http://www.rocky-road.com/kjtirespace.html I'm intrested in how much it raises the tire up and out, and could I possibly hang my OEM stock 16 on it without a problem? Or is it only for larger tires. Thanks guys. |

I'm not sure how much it moves the tire but for $40 bucks plus shipping are you sure you really need it? What size tire are you putting on? I've got 245/75/16 mtr's on stock wheels and it the spare fits perfect without contacting the glass or the bumper. I'd try it stock, if it doesn't fit you can use washers to do basically the same thing for about the price of the tax that you would have paid for the bracket. Totally your decision. Very smart to always ask around before getting something. Good luck. |

Here's another option: DarbyWalters wrote: I needed to get my spare mounted higher ( TrailReady Rear Bumper ) to use my hitch but didn't want to impede access thru the rear window. This will also get you a litle more clearance when climbing ( used to hit my spare every once in a while in the distant past.
Just turn the spare tire carrier upside down...it will be a little higher but that will be fine ( even with 265-75-16s ) because it angles out at the top slightly...I did put two wheel spacers between the tire and the carrier also. The carrier angles inward in the stock position to allow for the curvature of the rear door. Now it angles outward at the top...not too bad at all. Just a little something I discovered recently.
