Heva not had to test their service. I walked in here in louisville. small counter with NOTHING on the walls. Kind of a place that makes you wonder if they are dealing in ONLY radios. I had to pay sales tax, but no shipping and loved it. I hear that their service is good. I heard about them and heard that they deal in truck loads and if they dont have any instock of a particular item then the backorder wait will be what ever it is to get enough orders for a truck load. |

if you looking for a "legal" 4 watt radio, then radio shack would be your best bet... however, if you looking for a "import" radio ie: RCI, Ranger, Galaxy, or amps, Foot warmers, Texas Stars, Black Widows, etc... then they are the place to go |

Texas Stars? What are they? (pardon my ignorance) Thats the response youll get if you ask anyone running it! They are brand names of "underground" amps you can by law "buy, sell, or trade" BUT you cannot own, be in position of, or install any of them... FCC states that any radio that has been moded (on the 11 meter band, ie C.B.) is sub. to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. All cb's must be no stronger than 4 watts, and cannot be opened for any reason as stated by FCC part 95 subpart D. so how does all this work? well its like a car stereo, your cb is tunned to output 15 watts, which goes into a 50 watt modulator (Black Widow) which then goes into an Amp, leats say a Texas Star DV440V... thats 440 watts of power just from that one box, however its modded as well as the radio and the modulator, so at this point you pushing close to 600 watts!! now i bet you asking "what can one do with all that power??" Well im gald you asked! you can set off every car alarm in the mall parking lot, you can set off every store alarm as you drive by, any store or dealership that has a PA system... you can talk all over that. You can "fry" the take out order window at micky d's, kill a person with a pace maker, do some real damage at a Hospital etc...talk to other cb'ers in Europe, run from the FCC and hope not to get cought... OR you can goto radio shack buy the "ham radio study guide" and be a good child and do things the legel way. (I had to go the way... the judge said so... and of course its not as easy to set this all up either... i had to run 9 Die Hard Batts, 4 220 amp Alt, under my hood, and a lot of wire... and pray that nothing cought fire! LOL guess i went on longer than i thought... did i answer your question? |

Call me Curious Yellow (Am I that Old) any way I have a radar detecter but you all are talking the cool Sh$T I was raised on their was a time when if you had a real good CB sending unit you could pull up next to a VW with state of the art fuel injection. Chalange them to a race and as the flag fell key the MIIKE switch in turn shorted out the VW's entire fuel injection system and leave them sitting wonderering what the F&%K happened. That was the good old days. This system your talking about of playing with SMOKEY has me interested . PLEASE PLEASE tell me more. |

My Dad used to work as a mechanic for the local utility, PSE&G. All of their late model Ford Trucks, and i mean all, had a problem with their ECU's. if the driver keyed the mike on the radio while driving, the engine would die right there. Ford's answer was to stop the truck and turn off the engine before using the radio. Everyone at PSE&G hates Ford now because of this. Pick-ups, bucket trucks, does not matter what. They all do it. |

Now that explains more as to why myself and my dear old Pappy had a strong distaste for any vehicle with the FORD emblem on it. Years ago Pappy had a rather nice Ford Tarrus he said every time he thought this car ain't so bad he would look down at that FORD on the streering wheel and git all P!$$ed off again . Let hear it for Fix Or Repair Dailey |
