I don't know how you all feel about this, but I thought I would throw an offer out there just in case people liked the idea:

I used to run a web design "business" ( I guess you could call it that) and I am pretty good with phpBB and the phpBB system. If anyone thinks this is a good idea, I could create a special theme just for these forums that is more "Jeep like." You guys could have total ownership of the theme, just thought it would be cool if this had a little more of a jeep like feel. ( Also, you wouldn't have to use the theme, phpBB allows you to choose your own theme in your profile ).

Just throwin it out there ...

Also, I would be happy to install a quick-reply system on the boards if anyone is interested so that you can simply reply at the bottom of the page rather than load a whole new page.

Just a few offers .. feel free to comment/accept/reject

OH! and you can find some of the sites I made here:

and a forum template here:

http://www.euphoria5.com/forum/

So you can get an idea of how professional (or un-professional :? ) it would look.

By no means am I trying to sell anything. I don't really do this much anymore just trying to give something to a community that has helped me a lot with my KJ so far =]

I like it.

One thing I'm picky about is the amount of "Windows-centric, IE-centric" stuff that's out there. Some sites just use fonts that are teeny tiny on firefox/linux combination (different DPI settings than Windows). OK this can be adjusted in the client, but when that happens it usually throws off other elements too, esp. if they are not anchored/tabled down properly.

So, go for it, as long as you don't hardcode teeny tiny font size that looks ugly on my desktop :D

Build one and we will test it out. believe me... we tested a lot of them in the beginning and found tons of folks that made templates. I am not saying you are this kind of person but...

The big problem was... there are hundreds of templates but only 10 out of 100 would work right. Many of them had features that did not work at all. As long as all the features work and you are willing to provide this at no cost.

Once it is done...we would shoot it over to Heather and she would test it out and be sure there were no feature or security problems. And put her seal of approval on it. We all need to keep in miond she is moving right now and has a lot on her plate.

Keep in mind that we do not want to start building a lot of different templates. Any time we want to do anything different or make any changes to the site...we have to go back and do it on every template we use so it's not like just adding it.

There is a lot of work that goes on in the back ground on the templates that a lot of folks dont know we have to do. man it would be great if we just uploaded it and it was all done...but it does not work like that at all.

We have to add all the logos, banners, the way it functions, SECURITY, and all kinds of other things as well. Hope this helps...so everyone understands what is involved here. later...clint

Alright I'll start building one. I understand what you mean with the feature problem .. trust me I'll test it all on my own site before I send it to her to get tested.

As for the banners .. I would be happy to code in a spot for the banners or even code in the ones you're using right now.

I'll try something and you can see how it turns out .. and use it if you want.
