It's more likely that you just need to lube the swaybar bushings and links. That is a very common sound. Just dry bushings. Happens to everybody eventually. If that doesn't take care of it then start looking at other possibilities. That's the first place I'd check though. |

well i am not sure what was going on i looked at all the bushing and the ball joints, and everything seamed ok. the ball joints seamed to be tight. after work that day i went to the next floor and drove over one of the biggest bumps and no noise at all. i have not herd it since then ether. i think that it was just a bushing. if it happens again i will be sure to take it to a shop. i don't know it the ball joints have ever been changed. dose anyone know if there were any recalls on the 02 model? thanks |

Was it cold outside? My KJ creaks and squeaks when it is cold, for about 15min or so before it "warms up". It is like the bushings and suspension parts need to be warmed up by the friction of moving until then they make noise. |

There was a lower control arm recall on the 02's. You can check if yours was done by looking for an added heat shield between the discs and joint, or you can just type in your VIN at jeep.com. I've seen a lot of recommendations to lube your sway bar bushings-if you do-use silicon and not a petroleum based oil. (Then again sway bar bushings run about $10 if you do rot them out from oiling them.) |
