| Post subject: | 06 Seat is Killing Me |
Have been driving this 06 Limited for the past week and my lower back hurts, as does my outer right thigh. The metal supports in the seat bottom side bolsters push into my thighs. Not certain what's causing the back pain unless I'm compensating for the leg issue. Anyone else have issues with this seat? It's the powered leather one. |

The only complaint that I have is after 6 years, the padding is starting to soften mostly in the lumbar area. Support = proper spine alignment. |

Yeah, i recently started complaining as well. It just doesn't feel right after the first few hours of riding. Daily riding is fine, though. Otherwise long distance is difficult with these seats. Lower back support is nonexistant.. You cannot push your booty all the way to the corner then your back comes out front too much, You can adjust all you want, even with my power leather seats, it is making me tired after a few hours of driving. Maybe we can get one of those back cushions, small ones, and put it there. I cannot complain about side supports though.. People slide all over the place in the rear, we are in our position through all the maneuvers. |

'03 Limited has the best seats of all the jeeps on the lot that day IMO we sat in several and the KJ LTD had the best seats the only down side is that they are leather and in the south with all the humidity you stick to them but other than that they are great better than my TJ for sure |

I'm with you JT, I like my 03 seats also. Great comfort wise. I think that a persons body structure has something to do with it also. I have a little longer legs than some, weigh about 215, 5'11". I would like the seat to lower about a half inch more and it would be perfect. |

| Post subject: | Suspension SEATS |
Just a thought Horse Power TV. On The show XD-Treme 4x4 the show a suspension seat., it's base of the priciple of a hammock your seat is actually held between the sides putting you riding in a hammock per se and never actually feeling the ride. Check out: http://www.powerblocktv.com/sites/xtrem ... ep_m=March and then this is the company that makes the seat that may be the answer to you prayers: http://www.prpseats.com/ Being that I have 2 compressed and bulging disc and 2 degenerated discs (from L3 to L5) I know a little about back pain. Hope this helps LEAD |

It is very easy and relatively cheap to get a seat upholstery place to add padding and pull your seat fabric/leather back on...might be a cheap easy fix. ASFIR.com also has "suspension seats" but they are expensive and I don't know how much space we have in a KJ for them. |

You could replace your driver seat for under $400. When the time comes I'm getting the Corbeau Moab and the KJ seat bracket for it. http://www.corbeau.com/products/moab/moab.shtml |

Had the truck in the local Jeep dealer's shop last night for the 30k service. They looked at the drivers seat and we found the foam in the right bolster to be irregular with a defined large ridge but they said it would not be covered under warranty cause the previous owner could have caused the foam to deform. Yeah right -- it's an 06 and the foam wears to produce a high hard ridge. The service person passed me over to another and he came up to me later and said they found some 'seams comming apart' and took close-up photos to send to Jeep. I think he's trying to get the seat base replaced that way. He said it would take 5 days to hear back from Jeep on the issue - is this right? If this fails, I'll be finding an upholsterer to redo the seat base foam |

The seats in the KJ are so so at best from an ergonomic perspective. A cheap and easy fix is to roll up a small towel in and use it as a lumbar support. On longer drives it helps to stop and stretch ever 1-2 hrs. I also have a routine where I set the cruise and shift around. |

My 04 seats are good but do get rough on long rides. I'm 6'2" and about 230. On long drives I take my wallet out of my right stupid pocket and that helps even things out. Over all the seats are fine but I wish the steering wheel was a little closer b/c I have the seat all the way back. I end up not being able to sit with my entire back against the seat unless I have it fully upright which isn't comfortable. I saw someone say that the seats on an '03 were the best. When looking at used cars to buy I thought I read that the seats were slightly re-done on the '04 to offer more support and comfort. Was I wrong about that? |
