Actually it’s part of the recall being done by Mattel. Mine is in its original package. But I know some people have bought it for their kids.

they are not getting mine. I never found one on the shelf and an old diecast trading friend of mine sent me one. I need to still find another to open and guess it will be tough because of the recall.

Just about everything from chinia is being recalled, they should think about that that before they flood our markets with that commy junk. Seafood, tires, toys, it's all substandard, but yet we can't let enough of it over here. Chinia would stab us in the back in heart beat and yet we suport thier economy, it's a wonder were not buying stuff from Osama.

Unfortunately, it comes down to the "more, better, cheaper" mentality. I read "somewhere" and don't ask me to tell you the source, it was a couple years ago and I am getting older now, hehehe, but I remember it being a legitimate source, that 30% of EVERYTHING shipped into the U.S.A. from China, comes in through Wal-Mart. Don't ya know old Sam is just spinnin' in the grave!!!!!!!!!!

About 5 months ago I saw an article on MSNBC about a new Scooter being shipped to the states that had the poorest quality control you would ever want to see. Then the article continued to discuss how in the early 60's Japan had the same rep but moved on to make quality goods . With in the week I met up with a guy in a parking lot with one of the new China made Scooters 250 cc range he bragged about the great dollar deal he got for this little scooter. The first thing I noticed was one of the front turn signal lights was hanging by the wire. He said it came that way and he had yet to figure out how to fix it. But he kept telling me about the great deal he got on it. Can we say denial??? As much as we dis the japanese products my dad bought my mother a Honda Helux a 250 cc scooter it was not only a hoot to ride but was real solid. Cruised the hiway nicely. The china built rig had accident waiting to happen written all over it. Maybe in 20 years they will have a quality vehicle but till then if it says Made in China let the buyer beware..

Mine is hanging on a door in my room, along with all the other Cars diecast in their original packaging, and there is no way Mattel is getting mine either! I don't plan on chewing on it. And if I ever have kids, they won't be playing with it either!

Threadjack: how many (and what are they) toys do you have that are off-limit to your kids?

I don't have kids, but I've got LOTS of toys...mostly high end RC cars, tons of hot wheels (any Ferrari or Jeep, mostly)

Whenever I have kids, they'll drive the Jeep before they get to play with any of my other toys.
