Anyone else find that when the sunroof is open is freakin' loud?!!! Half the time I drive holding down the lil' springy metal thing on the front edge. I assume it's supposed to do something with pressure coming into the cab, diffusing air so it doesn't blow all the crap inside... but it just makes it more loud. Anyone have one of those plastic things (to go right in front of sunroof) like you can put on your side windows? Does it help? How much and where did U get it? |

The spring thing is a diffuser to prevent the air from blowing directly into the cabin. |

just open the rear windows a bit, the noise will lessen. |

Yeah, I think I'll remove the defuser. Probobly a good idea! As for the rear windows; yeah, I have done that. It's still too loud on the highway though. Shouldn't be that moisy with it open. Mine is quiet when it's closed, no worries there. Just the noise when open... no good! |

Isn't it supposed to be loud with all the windows down while driving on the highway? |

I know, its kinda like saying a convertible with the top down has wind noise. My experience with wind deflectors is that generally they work, they keep air from coming in, but that they also make for more wind noise. Its all about compromises I suppose. |

It looks like you have crossbars. Crossbars increased the noise on mine a lot. |

I have only seen one KJ with the plastic wind deflector and I thought it looked weird. They are also priced at around $50, which is crazy. I just turn the radio up. |

if your going fast enough to have it that noisy you should have the windows up and use the vents. Better for gas once your above 45mph |

Anyone have one of those plastic things (to go right in front of sunroof) like you can put on your side windows? Does it help? How much and where did U get it? You can remove the air deflector that springs up quite easily. It is only 4 screws. Can you elaborate? I have only two screws holding the front portion tension bands (little straps holding it in the up position under the side spring tension) and only clips under the side spring pieces of metal - there a little bracket they clip into at the rear of the deflector. Those two metal side springs (bent piece of metal acting as a spring pushing up the deflector) appears to be riveted on. No screws but two tiny retainers/rivets. How do you get these two springs off either side of the sun roof opening...you cant just close the roof over these appendages, they will trap the sunroof, but I don't know how to get those off...I dont want to just pry those off...any ideas?? There is a HUGE noticeable difference when driving on the highway and you manually pull the deflector down...it goes from NOISY with it up, to NO sound at all holding it down...almost as good as having the entire sunroof closed. would love to take the full deflector off but am stumped. |
