Ok guys I just noticed over the weekend that when I go over the bumps on the road the front end squicks a little. It seems like if the Jeep compresses up and down it squicks but I cant hear it if Im going fast on the highway. Sometimed its hard to hear it because its kind of quite but if I roll the window down I can hear it pretty good. What would cause the front end to squick when going over the bumps and dips in the road? The only thing I can think of is sway bar bushings, any other ideas? Thanks guys |

There are the following terms: squeak rattle thud bang Squeaking is caused by dry rubber and rotating sway bar Rattle is caused by caliper pads Thud is caused by hitting a bump stop or a bad shock/strut Bang is typically caused by the thought process of "I can make it" |

Did you use the dust covers for the struts when you put the lift kit on? Could just be those rubbing the insides of the springs. I heard it's pretty common for a Rusty's lift. |

Sway bar bushings typically will only do it in cold temperature. Say 35F or below. |

Yes, it is very cheap for the dealer to replace them, I got mine replaced and no more squeak from the front end over bumps, etc.. I hated that something between rusted metal and tight plastic squeak noise, and the dealer replaced my shocks at first, then replaced my bushings.  I got new shocks.

I do have the dust covers installed but it really doesn't sound like it would be them squeaking (yeah I did misspell it really bad at first  ). Also it doesn't get that cold here at all. My front struts are OME so I wouldn't think that one of them could be bad. Is there any way I can find out if its the bushings or the dust covers or mayber something else?

My sway bar end links were alittle loose. Caused some mad banging and rattling. |

Mine does it if the temps drop below 60. Every little speed bump, gronk. Annoying. 2005 Renegade here, but I haven't tried greasing anything yet. It only has 25k miles on it, it shouldn't be squeeking like this. Hell even my Dodge Caravan didn't sound like this thing at 150k miles.

The quickest way to find out if it's the end-links is to just take the sway-bar off and drive it. |

Grease the sway bar bushings. Youre driving a Jeep, not minivan. Please do not compare a minivan to a Jeep unless you drive a JK.

It sounds like your problem is the swaybar bushings! What myself and many others have done is spray them with a silicone based lubricant. They seem to dry out and make a annoying nosie over speed bumps ei. Don't replace them just spray them, I have sprayed them twice i n the last year and haven't heard the noise since.Its well worth the $4.00 can of spray, and make sure you get them good! Josh |

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I think it is swaybar bushings indeed so I try to spray them and see if the squeak goes away. |

I also have a squeek but mine is coming from the gearbox area and it is doing it with every liitle movement my KJ is making. The funny thing is when I put my right foot down it is gone and when it is raining it is gone also. Could it be the rubber of the transmission mount (on top of the cross member) |

Well I went bought some liquid wrench silicone lube and sprayed all the sway bar bushing and it still squeaks. I did notice that the squeak is not from the stuts going up and down. when I go over a bump i feel the stuts and springs and they feel solid and I don't directly hear the squeak but when I drive slower i can hear it really good. I think it might be some supporting component in the front suspension. I suppose I will spray everything rubber under the front and see if it stops. Ideas? |

I still think it's the dust covers on the struts rubbing against the springs around them. Mine does it. I just learned to ignore it, pretty much. |
