When people have snorkels on their off road vehicles what else to they have to fix to be waterproof besides intake and breathers?
The Military HMMWV with the deep water fording kits uses a special PCV valve that has a valve in it to redirect the crankcase pressure via vent lines to all components(tranny,t-case,geared hubs,PS pump, and diffs) so to push air out the seals thus not allowing water in.Also the raised intake and exhaust and all electrical connections are waterproof(not weather proof like ours). There's alot more then just adding a snorkel and raising the breathers to make a vehicle be able to forde deep water. It did suck when a friver would forget to turn the fording switch off and had to replace every single seal in the vehicle

.The reason for the raised exhaust pipe is the Marine Corps wanted the ability to shut the vehicle off in 60"(5 feet) of water for 10 min then restart and drive away.
