So does anyone have rust on their KJ yet? I've never heard mention of it on these forums before. The fact that I pounded down my pinch welds makes me worry, but I coated that in coats of rustoleum black and put new pastic in where I cut the wheel well liner. |

Maybe along the coasts in very damp and salty areas, given the age of alot of XJs they are surprisingly rust free. I see very little rust in Colorado Jeeps that have been around here since the late 80s, though colorado is not nearly as bad as many places back east that use salt heavily. |

Coming up on my 6th winter with the Liberty and no rust as of yet... Surface rust on suspension parts but the body is visibly rust free. |

Axles, suspension parts, crossmember and along welding at the underside of body above and besides fuel tank, fueltank straps and strangely enough the horn mounting. Oh and all the places where my qualified Jeep Dealer scratched and chipped off the paint under the hood |

No rust at all and its been on the road 3 winters now. Of course I have taken the taillights out and 3rd brake to wax behind them 4 or 5 times, removed the spare tire carrier and cleaned waxed behind it, undercoated the undercarriage, removed the plastic strips that covers the pinch welds under the doors and undercoated that area, whats not undercoated is pretty much painted, plus it gets washed weekly at least Oh and mines never been inside of a dealership so they have not scratched it at all ...only me Tom |

No rust on the body or any visible painted areas but my dealership mentioned that I had a good amount on the underside when I brought it in for the LBJ recall. He said not to worry about it and I havent for the most part but it has been in the back of my mind since. I sure it's just normal wear and tear though, they didnt recommend any replacements. |

Rayman, you have to understand that salt is a very important mineral here in Ohio, I mean we only have two seasons and both wouldn't be the same without it. Winter and Road Repair |

b.c doesnt use salt on their roads, its a mixture of sand and something else, my 93 beretta with almost 200k on it had no rust on it, barely any on the underbody either |

Ive been caught! Its alittle bigger than a trush brush. I just spray it off as much as possible in the winter. I dont let the salt sit around and let everything rust although you cannot always help it. We have mild winters here also so that helps, but they coat the roads in salt when it rains.
I also buy some cheap tire shine at advance and coat it every now and then. I found the stoner's tire shine on sale for half price per can so I picked up a few. |
