Thanks! I hadn't thought of heat. I was going to try the brake cleaner but a) I was too lazy to go downstairs and get it and b) My fingers were already too cold. It's like zero above today.
That torch idea sounds like the right move though.

What's good stuff to disolve the beginnings of a buildup of blue (removable) Lock-Tite on the wheel lugs? I just rotated my tires and noticed some there. I got most of it off with a wire brush, but it's hard to get all the way around the lug with it. |

Propane torch,really it works,it will turn it back into liqiud form and easily wiped off.You need to heat up the componets to 600degrees+ for the green lock-tite,so a milder heat will disolve the blue stuff.Or you could try some brake cleaner that might work some what.

A quality heat gun will get it off too if you aint got a propane torch

Man, I have gotta get down there some day and see what real warmth is like. Up here, we're unpacking the toques already. Everybody has two, by the way, a "good toque" and a "work toque". Thanks for the replies.

Most discussions about the wheel lugs are whether or not to use anti-sieze. I can't say I've ever heard anyone recommend to use Lok-Tite. Have you had lugs loosening ? |

I had that happen to me once, but not since I started using Lock-Tite. Once the nuts are torqued on they stay on and don't loosen. When you take them off, they aren't hard to get off if you use the blue removable stuff. A small tube usually does a couple or three rotations. It's just a little extra peace of mind to me.
