Is this it?
I haven't seen this type before, do they push in or turn? I'd experiment with it but it "feels" fragile somehow. |

Thanks! I gave it a go and it's done. Okay, I'm not going to win any speed prizes: it took me 5 hours altogether to change the hoses, thermostat and coolant. Barked two knuckles trying to get that beeeeotch of an upper thermostat housing bolt off and back in. I'm glad I got a hose clamp wrench, though, I doubt if I'd have done it without that. I was surprised by one thing, the old coolant looked brand new, with no rust or junk in it, just a couple of tiny flakes of something. Anyway, now I'm set for winter, knock on wood. |

Which way does this need to twist? I can make it twist a quarter turn very easily (counterclockwise), but nothing comes out. Must I keep going? Seems fairly fragile so don't want to break it. |

OK, so must I twist more than a quarter turn? I stopped when it started to give resistance, and as its plastic didn't want to go further. This is for the CRD if thats makes any difference. Thanks, |

I dont recall how much of a turn. I just know that it is a pain because i keel flipping the wrench over to get a littke more of a turn. Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2 |

Well I just did this job a month ago. I use a 1" piece cutoff of a 10mm allen wrench and an open ended wrench. Can't see it from the picture, but the plastic nut is really a 10mm socket head. As you turn it out it eventually contacts the support so using a full allen wrench wont work. It didn't take a lot of turns, but you do need to turn it out a good 1/4 to 3/8 inch to get maximum flow. Screwing it back in required a little pressure torward the radiator to start the threads. |

Aha. Ok. I think i just stopped too early. Clearly it needs to twist some more. Thanks for the feedback. using my Galaxy SII |

This plug drained so little, so slowly I personally kept it capped and pulled the main hose on the bottom attached to the thermostat. The little plug just made more of a mess for me and never seemed effective for what it is supposed to do. |

I use a short piece of fuel line into the drain bucket. Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2 |
