So...
Last night I noticed that my left rear window was down a few inches. So I reached over to the buttons and attempted to roll it up. To my disappointment, all that happened was a not so pretty grinding noise :-(
So I pulled over to see if I could help the window up by hand. This is a 2005 KJ that I rarely maybe once or twice a week even operate the rear doors and windows. I pulled on the door handle and although it unlatched, it would not open. This SUX!
So today I climb into the back seat and remove the door panel and work for about 2 hours trying to unlatch my door so I can at least get inside to fix it.
After 2 hours of trying everything, I went outside and got my fingers between the door and the jam, and with all my strength ripped the door open.
Thats when it was clear that the window regulator cable had come loose and when I tried to roll it up last night, snaked itself up into the door latch and basically deadbolted the door preventing it from being open.
Chrysler definately needs to prevent this kind of thing from happening before someone needs to get out in a hurry and can't because this disign just locked them in.

Both my front psgr and rear left windows have had roll up issues, and with a rider in the back last weekend at Hollister Hills... that window finally went kuput. Since I've seen window regulator issues posted here, I went to the dealership looking for a service bulletin. They said "no," but it is covered under warranty.

Exact thing happened to me. Rear door would not open as the cable did the same thing to my door. Chrysler should do something about this...unacceptable...

My driver side rear passenger window just fell down on my 2007 Liberty. Cars been using window regulators to roll windows up and down for almost one hundred years. Why can't Chrysler get the little things right? It is at the dealership right now they said that many Liberty's have regulator issues. I just had it in for a new serpentine belt and tensioner. I think I got a Friday or Monday Jeep.

We bought a 1994 Oldsmobile for the wife to drive and keep the miles off of the Liberty I want to unload this boat anchor ASAP. Miss my XJ's, wish they had more headroom and better seats I would have never sold them.

Same thing happened to mine, and they replaced the rear regulator. FYI, you can get the door open without all that work if you just hit the button to roll the window down. It'll retract the coil and allow the latch to operate. It's just no longer connected to the window itself.

I thought that as well but the act of pulling on the door with the cable laced through, tweaked the cable causing it to bind. I tried several times to do this without success.
