Okay you all know that my KJ is very unique by the paint job.I have been throwing around the idea of totally bed lining my KJ.

Yeah or nay?

Now the black areas will stay black with the addition of the F/R bumbers and carriers/rack but the orange areas will be bedlined orange as not to have to tear it all apart and do the door jams and such(not doing all that again).Now it won't be the exact color of orange since my paint is a tri-coat paint job,I can get close.Otherwise I would bed line it all black.

I'm getting alfully tired of mantaining the paint and the trail scraps are adding up fast as are the dents.Since I didn't pay for the paint job anyway(thank you insurance) and it would probally only cost about $300 to bed line it myself it's looking like a good idea to me,less maintance and no more waxing,ever.


Just though I would ask you all and for any comments.

I mean I can always leave it as is like the pic below to---

tjkj.....I voted NO......

Anyway, your orange is a unique color and I think it looks good especially with the black on the bottom. I think it sets it off well. I don't know what to tell you about the bedliner and how it would really look. The only thing I can think of is...if you don't like it and decide to take it off I think it will be a mess and then you will end up repainting it anyway.

Just my thoughts.

My thoughts are that you have wheeled it harder than most of us ever will and you have to have several nice pinstripes running the full lenghth so go for the bedlining. If you can get something close that would be cool as well! Yours will be on the forefront of several new products over the next year or so, so I would make it unique in every way!

I like the Orange. Makes your rig unique. Guess it would be unique with bed liner as well.

Keep it painted, it looks great in person. I would just not worry so much about maintaining the paint and after another couple years Then you will have a good reason to bedline it. For now though, it is unique and looks great so leave it alone.

use the trails scratches as a means to prime it for bed lining....meaning of course run the paint ragged, made it look used, and then go for it....that is what i am slowly doing with my Silver until I bed line it all....

Why not. Your rig. Plus, it seems more practical. And on top of that, orange bedlining is still going to stand out and be very unique.

What you gonna use RHINO Liner, LINE-X, Hardware Brand, Rustoleum ? The product does make a difference as well as surface prep, are you planning on prime or a Bonder paint betweent the Substaight and the coating.? Besides the does she or doesn't she, their are always other factors! :idea: :shock: :? :idea: :twisted:

Thanks for all the responses.Like I said I have been kicking the idea around in my head for awhile,I think I'll wait till some idiot does some damge to my KJ that requires a body panel to be painted in which the whole KJ will need to be painted(non-matchable since it is a custom blend paint and I only know the reciepe) and collect the big $$$ and them bed line it.

I would use tintable Morton's bedliner,that's what is on my KJ right know(all the black),UV protected and fairly easy to spray.Only sticks to a painted surface(not just primed,must be finished painted),scuff with 80 grit,clean,and spray.The only thing that sucks is it must be out of the sunlight for at least 6 hours cause of the UV protectant.

I voted yes...so as soon as you have a good reason, dented panel, huge scratch, or the like I say go for it.

Also take a look at durabak. I dont know if you can get custom tints or not but they have an orange that looks kinda close to what you have. (they will send samples) It can be sprayed, does not need to be mixed, other than thinning if you spray it, UV resistant, can be repaired, and you are allowed more than one coat. You may be familiar with it already, I think the military uses it.
