If any of you have had something go wrong that would have been fixed under warranty, but you were denied because of a modification you made, please talk about it here! |

That's worded rather poorly. If the part you modified is involved with the problem you're experiencing, the dealer/DC does have a right to deny warranty. However, if the part you modified is NOT involved with the problem you're experiencing then they cannot deny warranty. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act Print that out and take it to the dealer if they deny warranty on parts unrelated to your modification(s). |

That's even vague since you could lift a KJ and then the t-case goes out, well you didn't mod the t-case but the lift can cause t-case failure(failure to correct rear driveline angles),and that's just one case I could name many more indirect mods causing failures on un-modded parts.

I know about the magnuson-moss act. I'm asking what's happened to the members here that caused a legitimate warranty denial. |

Well I can tell ya that the only thing that they can't deny is any safety recall(LBJ's for one). |

Yeah, thats more like what I had in mind. I've got bigger tires on, if I explode my front diff (not likely to happen with the kind of wheeling I do now) can they say that extra stress caused the failure. I suppose they could. I wanna know if anyone here has gone through that. |

I had my reverse light switch in the tranny die, and the dealer denied a warrenty claim because I added extra back up lights in to the circuit. Dealer said that doing so voided my warrenty, luckily the switch was only like $20-$30 to replace. Stephen |

Swysz, Did you add in a high current carrying solenoid switch like the ones used in front light installs? If so they had nothing to stand on in regards to the warranty issue. |

spoonplugger1 wrote: Swysz, Even if that was done you still tampered with the OEM wiring so that will void the warrenty for that case.

Unfortunately it is in the dealers best interest to prove that the part failure was caused by whatever mod is done to the vehicle. |
