It's rumored all over a lot of the car forums that cerberus is going to off jeep. It's the largest profit maker under the chrysler banner and worth the most. It's been said from day one that cerberus was going to part chrysler out. I don't know what thier plan is, but saving chrysler wasn't thier main objective, they intend on making money off of it in some way. You guy's can call me crazy, but if you remember, I'm the one that said a year ago that Diamler was going to sell chrtsler and alot of you said I was nuts then. Cerberus is also interested in aquiring jag and land rover from ford. (Now for the shocker) some predict a trade in the works, jag and LR for jeep a long with a few other indentives. I'm not saying how it's going to go, but it's going to get interesting. I will however predict that cerberus will infact sale, trade jeep here in the near future as they take the hachet to chrysler. Since I no longer have my KJ, I will still stop in and keep you posted on any updates I hear, read and so on. I just let the KJ go today and I allready miss you guy's. I'll look for reasons to stop in and talk to you from time to time.

I can see something like that happening but I just don't think it would really happen. Jeep is the money machine.

If jeep is the money machine then it will sell for the biggest profit. Im not sure what Ford would do with it if they made that trade though. And that trade seems silly at first glance Jag and LR are some serious underperformers I thought.....perhaps Cerberus thinks Jeep is not going to be easy to make big leaps in increased sales, but LR and Jag could be brought out of the pits?

Why did you ditch the KJ?

Agreed. I've owned 3 Fords in my life and not one of them lasted a month, even. Had the last one for about three months and it was in the garage torn apart for all but about a week of that time. Gave it to my brother and have never even considered another Frod.

My CJ7 had Motorcraft parts all over it, so it wouldn't bother me any

Jeep was the biggest cash cow in the ChryCo lineup in '06, when it was the XK, WK, TJ, and KJ. I'm sure the JK is making them some money too, but IMO the division has their hand in too many cookie jars to be profitable ATM.

I could see Jeep getting sold off.

It will still be made by Jeep. Just cause Daimler owned it no one said it was made by them.

Its really too bad that Jeep employees couldnt buy it out. Heck I would pitch in and buy a few shares myself....make it a seperate publicly owned entity? That would be cool..risky...but cool.

IMO, Jeep is the only brand that could do it and make it work. I bet we'd see a Gladiator real quick if that were to happen. Of course, there'd only be 2-5 models in their line-up, as well, I think.

Why wouldn't you buy a jeep that ford made, you buy one that chrysler made who has one of the poorest quality records of the big 3. Ford helped bulild alot of AMC jeeps by suppling parts and also built jeeps identicle to the willys in WW II. The ford trade isn't a fact, just speculation and food for thought. Cerberus would sell jeep mainly because thier not in the car business, thier in the money making businesss. Take a look at thier past record and things they have done and been involved with. Sure they will make an attempted to make all of chrysler profitable as it will be worth more, however, they won't lose a lot of money to do it. Jeep is allready profitable and ripe for selling. They buy companies in trouble, turn them a round and sell them, thats what they do. It's not if they will sell jeep or chrysler, it's when. They may sell it all off together, or in parts, depends on how they can make the most money. I wouldn't worry about the warrenty, ford for sure, but I'm sure anyone else would also honor it as well. Also there is no time line for this, it could be 10 years down the road, or this year. It's all about money and when and where the most can be made. Actually ford and jeep would be a perfect fit as they have been conected at the hip up till the time chrysler purchased them. My biggest concern is that it stays american.

It's like the movie "Wall Street". The big money moves in and buys a company. They then part it out and sell it to the highest bidder. It's the American way!

Why all this talk about Ford trading for Jeep? Ford barely has enough cash on hand to keep themselves out of bankruptcy, let alone acquire a major brand like Jeep. Neither Jag nor Land Rover is currently profitable. Jeep is, so Ford would have to sweeten the pot. That means big money, which they don’t have. I don’t see it happening. I think it would be more likely for GM to buy Jeep and shutter Hummer.

Nonetheless, it is only a matter of time before Cerberus unloads the dog with fleas known as Chrysler Corp. If they think they can make more money by selling it in parts, they won’t hesitate to break it up. On the other hand, I can also see Cerberus telling potential suitors that if they want Jeep they’ll have to take Chrysler and Dodge too.

It takes money to make money, ford just recently bought the rover nameplate from BMW, why I have no clue. Also Land Rover is profitable and has been, it's jag that was struggling. They released a new model this year thats doing verywell, thier futunes are changing. The thing with jag and LR is they have worldwide dealer networking and appeal, not just state side. I don't know the ends and outs of big business or why they do some of the things they do. I do know that my source told me a year ago that Diamler was going to drop chrysler like a bad habit, some of you laughed at me then. Now my source tells me that jeep will be leaving the fold, how is not clear yet. It's even been sugested that jeep could become it's own company, Jeep Corperation. I just think it's intersting to watch and see how these things play out. Don't worry however, jeep is solid and has a future what ever happens, there not going to disappear, they will only get better if not bigger. Jeep is fine, as is dodge, the chrysler name is a little shakey, but will be interesting what Cerberus does. I would like to see all 3 of our companies make a come back and do well, I hope the chrysler name is a round for a long time, I'm a ford man by nature, but I want to see the other 2 prosper as well. As for my beloved jeep, I've been with them through a few owners, thier a survivor. It's one of the worlds most reconizable brands.
