have you tried 4wd.com or quadratec yet?
Search around. I have discovered the these two can have decent prices, but they can also have the highest prices around and be a huge rip off.
Spend some time and do a bunch of internet searches. I have purcheased many things online from several different dealers. Anybody gets ripped off it will be posted on these forums so fast it will make your head swim, so
most of the vendors/retailers are pretty aware of this and tend to be on the up and up.
Also buy from 4x4 shops and 4x4 specialty dealers. They are staffed by people who use the stuff. The big parts online monster wharehouses tend to be filed with people who could not tell you the difference between a tow strap and a tree strap. (one has some strech built in, the other doesn't)
Anyway the best advice is from everybody's grand father. "You Get What You Pay For."
Don't be ashamed about paying just a bit more from a good 4x4 shop. chances are you will not regret it. Buying cheap stuff off StealBay just because it looks good and is inexpensive is not always the best thing to do. After all it is "Recovery" equipment. You might just need to depend on it.
Edit: Also don't be afraid of asking questions of these guys And gals at the 4x4 shops. It is a fair bet that they were Newbies at offroading at one point too. I have found that while most of them do drive the CJ, TJ, YJ and other traditional wheeling jeeps, they are happy to help ANYBODY get into the sport and do it safely. Just ask.
