Zerex makes the correct coolant that is cheaper then at the dealer,at most autoparts stores(about $12 a gallon),here is a pic of it---- ![]() |

Only get the G-05 if you intend to use it for a long time. That good for all makes and models stuff should only be used on a temporary basis or not at all. |

I used Prestone Extended Life when I needed to top mine off. Im alittle worried about it now since the bottle says DEX-COOL on the bottle but on the back it just says its compatible with dex-cool systems and that its also for Chrysler vehicles. So idk.. Either way, when I drain it at 60k Im using Zerex like in the pic above. |

There is no coolant that is capatable with G-05 coolant, your probally just turning your coolant into acid as we speak Either way, when I drain it at 60k Im using Zerex like in the pic above. ![]() |

I talked to the body shop repairing my Libby yesterday about this. he says he uses something called Universal Cold. Should i be planning a coolant flush/change as soon as i get it back? i explained to him why and he assures me it will be fine. |

It was just enough to top the tank off. I didnt get Dex-cool, it just says its compatible with dex-cool. |

funny, it says nothing about that in my manual, so how is a normal person who goes to buy coolant supposed to know this? This is the first i have ever heard of this and i have been researching everything i need to know about liberty's for quite some time now |

This is the first i have ever heard of this and i have been researching everything i need to know about liberty's for quite some time now Well since G-05 coolant is good for 5 years they expect for you to use the wrong stuff so it will void the powertrain warrenty so you have to pay out of pocket and/or they expect all the service work to be done at a dealer.Just a way for them to make more money.Chrysler started using G-05 coolant around model year 2000 I believe.
Personnaly if I lived in a area where it never dropped below 40 degrees I would use straight distilled water and about 2qts of Royal Purple's "purple ice",good stuff and does really work.I may do what I did to Rock Lizard's XJ,flush to system with straight water then add Dexacool for ease of getting coolant verses trying to find the G-05. |

I'm not in CS right at the moment but the jug of G-05 I have has a warning on the back about a certian "universal" coolant that is not compatable with G-05,I can't remember the name off hand.If you can get the true name of that coolant(chemical name) and then find a jug of G-05 to make sure it isn't that coolant that is very harmful if mixed with G-05,the warning is on the bottom of the back side if I remember.

For the CRD, the factory manual says 5 years/100,000 miles on the diesel engines coolant, but I hear others say that you should replace the coolant on the diesel regularly as it has liners. Does anyone know if the manual is indeed correct, or do you need to change it more often? |

I just purchased the Zerex stuff at Sturdevants auto here in Sioux Falls, Unfortunalely for most of you there are a very upper midwest chain. According to the guy i talked with there he said that this stuff is pretty much the only stuff that will mix and work well. And he said its not very easy to find... Slightly off topic i am wondering how hard it really is to actually drain the fluid and put new in. I am reading the service manual and it does not seem all that hard? Anyone do this and can report? -Nick |
