is the dana 30a the same shape as a dana 30 |

No, the interior dimensions are different. I am pretty sure the pinion shaft is longer on the 30a as well. Exterior, I think is close, but have not looked close. |

The ring gear(ring gear only) and the carrier are the same for the D30 and D30A and that's about it. |

So I thought id try one for the front Diff when I do it... |
