L.O.S.T. members,

A buddy of mine has a hobby machiner and we've been tinkering around with it, making custom cut emblems out of metal and plastic. I would really like to make a replacement for the "Trail Rated" emblem on the panels of current Jeeps with one that looks the same but is a L.O.S.T KJ logo.

Problem is, I don't have a good design. Does anyone have a circular (not-oval) logo that I can mess around with? If these things turn out, I'll make them available to all members at cost of materials and shipping, no mark up.

Jetson

Definitely close.

The lettering probably should be block lettering for it to be noticeable and readable.

I'll work up a couple ideas as well and post them soon. If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know.

Hey man, if you do this and plan to sell them in any way keep in mind that LOST is a registered trademark. Please make sure you get the go ahead from Wally (founder of LOST). Here's his email...sevenwallyseven@aol.com

I can provide a high-res version of this:

Image

We can tweak it to give it some more edge detail like the trail rated badge - this is simplified for vinyl cutting.

BTW, guys, lets not squash every person that comes in here trying to offer something cool. Some people DO like new stuff, on the contrary to some of you party-poopers.

Of course, being a tried and true Liberty Enthusiast, he will do it the right way and involve Clint and/or Wally.

How was I trying to "squash" him? I think we're pretty flexible actually. Your designs were approved without too much hoop jumping, right? New folks may not know that LOST is trademarked and I would be remiss if I didn't at least mention it. I'm simply giving him the facts so he can do it right. I take offense at being a "party-pooper." I've been around here a while and seen most of the "new stuff" happen.

With Skyjump on this. He was just letting jetson know about the fact that L.O.S.T. is trademarked and needs to get the go ahead before trying to SELL something with the logo name. Jetson is a new person and does not know the in's and out's of all this. In no way was anyone being negative to jetson or others about creating new products.

How about a diamond shape emblem?

I love the idea! I will play around with photoshop tomarro and figure it out and then start on the decal. My school uploaded photoshop to all the computers hooked up to the network a few days ago (The county gave us laptops to use for the whole year!). Results will follow. If anyone wants to give me a few pointers on how to use it(Photoshop), feel free!!!

I apologize if I offended. Not my intention to fight AT ALL. The thread where I got trashed started out quite the same and I didn't wanna see this thread go the same way. I understand we need to look out for the best interests of the club, but it can seem standoffish when you don't know the history of such things here. I want to see innovation around here - it's the only way we can grow. That said, if I feel someone is about to be stomped on, I'm gonna try to defend them.

Nothing against anyone specifically. Everyone here is great, and I sincerely mean that. I'm just trying to watch out for someone as a few others tried to watch out for me.

Thanks, guys, for helping make a tremendous club, which myself and many others get a great deal of enjoyment from!

Toss your questions this way! I use PS daily for work and for play.

Wow, there's some heat in this kitchen... :D

I will certainly email wally. And thanks in advance for the heads up. I didn't realize it was a registered trademark, so good call on the advice. As I have no interest in making money from this, I'll ask Wally if he wants to use them as a fund raiser, etc. Doesn't bother me either way.

Thanks for the feedback on the designs. I like the diamond idea. I'll be putting some other designs together as well. Maybe we can pull all the final designs together and get some votes. Hell, I'll even see if we can just make different versions.

Thanks guys.

Nick

I honestly didn't feel that either of you were in a "fight". Seems pretty tame as far as disagreements go, if there was any. To me it seems more like regular discussions.

I didn't think there was a fight or anything either. It just always seems that when something new is introduced for the club then someone always mentions that LOST is trademarked (which is very good information), but then it just starts spiralling downhill from there. The thread then turns into more of an issue over the trademark as opposed to the idea that was originally brought up. It gets kind of old. I think most of us, except for the newbies, are aware of the trademark. Instead of a post for every new idea brought up maybe make it an announcement or PM the person offering something new to get it approved. I understand the necessity to protect the trademark, but sometimes it goes a bit overboard. When pixel wrote his thread over the new vinyl stickers all that was there were posts about the trademark issue instead of "does this look good". It is important to get it approved, but if nobody likes the new idea then what's the point in getting approval? Just my 50 cents. Sorry for the rant.

On a side note... I like the new idea and hope that jetson does get some designs and get the approved to go out to members.

I would have to agree with Mike, it does get out of hand when a new idea is introduced. Maby someone could just say all new ideas of this nature must be approved and ran thriugh Wally. I think that this would clear up the threads.

Isn't that all I said? The only thing that's "gotten out of hand" is all the people saying they don't like it when things get out of hand. Let it go...let's all think happy thoughts. Sheeesh.
