I have seen some on ebay but they seem slightly different. Whhich are better- in channel or i guess not in channel. Is there any other things about VV that I should look for?

go with the in channel if you driv in a winter area; the ice and snow eat up the adhesive tape

I have had the stick on ones on 5 or 6 vehicles all with 150,000/200,000 miles and never had a problem, they may not be as sleek looking but I just like them better, of course I always paint them the body color also so not sure if that helps

I have the Mopar stick-on type and they've been serving me well for 2+ years. Going into the third winter with them- no problems.
