What is the cargo pull-out liner behind the rear seats good for? You can't put anything heavy on top of it. Do people use it for something? The only thing I can guess is that it would hide what is in your cargo from someone looking in the back windows. My windows are tinted, I don't have anything sitting in the cargo, so what a waste of money and weight that roll-out liner is. Am I missing something here? |

Alot of the KJ sports came without tinted windows, so that would be handy. |

You could make it worth your while and sell it in the for sale section. But since the KJ is a "Mall Krawler" the moms like to hide their goodies from thieving eyes whilst shopping during the Holiday season, can't see it, can't steal it sort of speak... |

According to Jeep.com: A stylish retractable compartment cover keeps valuables out of sight in the cargo area. The cargo cover also comes in handy for serial killers when they need to hide their victims' bodies somewhere. The cover is easy to install and remove when not in use. ![]() I personally store mine under my bed since I never use the thing. When I need to fold down the seats to haul stuff it makes it a lot easier if I don't have to deal with the cargo cover. |

I use mine all the time when I go shopping. Don't need to have people peeking in my back window looking for something to steal. I also use it when my Jeep is sitting at the boat launch while I'm out on the water. All my sail gear is expensive and I don't need people stealing my collection of spare parts and gear. |

It is also good for keeping items somewhat cool in the summer. I have had guitar cases warp/bubble in the summer heat. Since then I always use the cover and haven't had any more problems |

It will become handy in a roll-over accident if you have small tools or boxes back there, that thing will somewhat stop them from flying about the cabin. I love it, I use it all the time. I park on the street, I don't have much stuff in the cargo area, but why invite thives?! Just cover it up. I don't see what the big deal is. If we didn't have it, I am sure many people would complain why we don't have something like that. And of course, like he mentioned, it direct sunlight from hitting whatever you've got there, it makes a huge difference. |

Living in the city I always have it pulled out even if I don't have anything back there. I figure if people are used to seeing it closed and then one day they see the same jeep with it pulled open then they must be hiding something. So I always leave it rolled out. And yes, thieves do scout out areas. Just walking up and down my own block I notice who suddenly has their cover rolled out in their cars when they normally don’t. A pro will pick that up all the time. By the way, if you have GPS mounted in your window be careful when you park even if you take it out. In NYC lots of cars are getting broken into and cops are finding that the thieves will look for the ring left by the suction cup and figure that the GPS unit is probably in the glove box b/c people are too lazy to bring it in with them. Most auto insurance companies will not cover it b/c it's not permanently mounted to the car so you have to claim it on your home owners/renters insurance. |

I would definitely use the cargo cover if I had it. Out-of-sight prevents a lot of crimes of opportunity. But I got the cargo tray. It's nice...drops to the floor when you need a flat floor and raises up when you need it. Provides shade/cover for everything I put under it, and provides a really helpful devided section for all those groceries I can't help but get every time I go out in the KJ. ![]() ![]() Granted, I'm not sure I would have paid the $100+ they wanted for it. The dealer threw it in to help seal the deal. |

I have a sport and bought the cargo cover after I bought the Jeep. To be honest the cargo cover gets in the way more than I have used it to hide something from sight. |

Just what this man said.....sell it!! If you have not needed yet, chances are you won't. I bought my libby used last spring, and had no need for the cover, it sat in my basement for a few months. I checked around on Ebay, and lots of guys were selling them for a decent dollar. I listed mine on Ebay and it sold for close to $50. Got rid of it and earned a few bucks at the same time, for an item taking up space in my workshop. Ebay, this site, or any buy sell and trade. There are folks looking for them, as they are close to $100 brand new from the dealers. |

Never really thought it would be of any use, but after reading this thread I'll have to pull mine out from the garage and start using it! |

Thanks for all the replies. I guess DarbyWalters thought it was a bad question but it really got a lot of good responses. As for my liner, instead of storing it in my closet, I was thinking of installing a couple of screw hooks in the ceiling vertically above the liner, painting it white, retract it up to the ceiling, intall a movie camera on my center arm rest facing backwards and watching projected movies on it while waiting for my wife to come out of the mall. haha Thanks for all the replies. |
