Engine light came on after starting tonight after work. Jeep runs fine and all fluids are fine. Owners manual says something about fuel or tranny sensors? Also, I keep seeing people listing codes on here, Is there a way for me to pull codes on this and see what is causing the light before taking it to the Stealership?
Thanks in advance,
Jason

Hey! the search function actually came through for me! found the on-of-on-off-on trick and pulled a P0301 code which according to this table

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=1707

means cylinder 1 misfire detected. Does this mean continually or just 1 instance? how do I clear this to see if it will fail again or will it clear itself over time if no more misfires?

Many autoparts stores will either read it for you or lend you their reader. They can probably clear it with thier OBD tool as well.

Try Autozone, they have a code reader that you can use and a book to tell you exactly what it is. That is what I do.

Means your #1 cylinder had a misfire. probably a spark plug or Coil.

When was the last time your Spark Plugs were changed.

Its actually against the Law for Parts stores to clear it, well maybe not the law, but there are a few lawsuits hanging around because some morons have cleared codes that are actually important, and the car was damaged.

and Clearing the codes doesn't make the problem go away
