Will a group 34 fit in the KJ? From what I can find its 10 inches long/ 7.25 inches tall and 6.75 inches wide suppose to have 1000 CCA at 32 degrees, 800 at 0 degrees and reserve of 100 minutes. I can get a pretty good deal if someone can let me know if they will fit.
Mines over 3 years old now and since its a great price less than a 100 bucks  why not buy it now!

Well unless it will not work :?

Looks like the KJ takes a group 25 thats 9 5/16 X 6 13/16 X 7 5/8 with a cold crank of 720 at 32 degrees reserve of 90 minutes

Thanks for any info anyone can give me.

Tom

Pop your hood and take some measurements. Maybe you can make it fit.

It will work, you will need to trim some of the battery tray lip off to make it fit(closest to the fender),I had to do this to make my group 34 Optima fit.

The 34/78 fits with no trimming in my 2003. I seem to remember the battery tray was changed after 2002 which might explain why the 2002 (and early 2003?) KJ owners report that trimming is needed.

Yeah there's no way that would fit in mine without modifying the tray. I just picked up the smaller red top for $128.99 at advanced auto about 2weeks ago. It fit right in with no modifications.

Yeah, I have the Yellow Top (34/78 ) in my 04, fitted straight in no worries.
Top battery too, duel purpose, Starting and 55amp hr deep cycle, runs my fridge for the weekend and still starts the car without a problem.

It's the biggest Yellow top you can get.

You can see them in that pic. There is a bump out on each side of the battery on the bottom of the pic.

I dont have any other pics.

Hi guys, I have read a lot of threads about the Optima batteries. Being new to the scene, what is all the hype about this battery?? Is it the "big player" in batteries today?? I saw them in our Canadian Tire flyer a few weeks ago. Just wondering what makes it better than all the other brands, so I know which way to steer down the road when my KJ battery needs replacing. Thanks

They are more reliable than the standard lead plate / acid batteries of yester-year. I don't think I've ever heard of a single person claiming they had a dead battery when they ran an Optima. The redtop is great for a daily driver vehicle. The yellow top is a deep cycle and most people with lots of excessories like winches use them. I've used the Redtops in my previous cars and plan to again in the future.
