I am on the vergre of buying a 2006 limited (Inferno Red) for my wife but the one they have 100 miles away at another dealership is a 4 speed auto (42RLE). I was looking at the Jeep website and saw that for 2006 a 5 speed auto (545RFE) is an option. Guys, which of the 2 tranmissions is better? Will I get better gas milage with the 5 speed auto? I neeed help on this one quickly because I already asked them to go get the 4 speed auto from the dealership that is 100 miles away.

Unless something has been changed in 06, the 5 speed auto was only available with the CRD and the 4 speed auto was available with the v6.

This has been confusing people for along time, we dont know if thats a mistake on the web site or what. Ive not heard of anyone buying a libby 3.7 with the 545rfe. If ur into towing, i would get the 545rfe in the crd, is a stronger tranny than the 42rle. Many people have the 42rle and have had no problems with it, and i dk about the gas mileage.

Not sure, but I don't think the limited has ever been available in a stick. Most people have the auto...
