| Post subject: | Heated Seats (not working) |
Hello Guy's / Gal's I searched the site, but couldn't find what I was looking for (chalk it up to being a newbie) I was wondering if anyone has expereinced any issues with their heated seats not working? This morning when I got in the Jeep to head off to work the warmer stopped working. When I pressed either 'High' or 'Low' the indicator light just flashes. This is only happening on the Drivers seat, the passenger seat functions properly still.. Thanks, Steve |

does anyone know if u can feel the heated seats through seat covers? Have u tried them after u stopped and started it? May be bad news, could be shorting out and thats why it wont come on. Or i could just be a bad switch. Dont know much about this, first time ive ever heard of the heated seats going bad. If u know much about this stuff, u could take the switch from the pass seat and put it in the drivers seat, good way to see if the switch is bad. |

I can not feel the heating element through the seat (or at least in the areas that it used to get warm) 2.) I turned the car off / on about 4 different times to see if it was a glitch.. no luck 3.) I hope this isn't a indicator of what is to come with more than 40,000 miles approaching 4.) I know the switch is identical, I haven't tried to replace or swap parts.... I'll let the dealer deal with that [ my extended warranty covers the electrical switches up until 2008 or 50,000miles] Thanks for the help. I have an appointment with my dealership this Thrusday to have them fix it. I'll post my results (and cost to repair) after then.. |

Update: I dropped the Libby off a day early because I wasn't able to get a ride home tomorrow. But, the dealer just called and said: "your heating element is broken... We have ordered another one and it SHOULD be here tomorrow morning. The cost for this will be $312.04 [long pause] So what do you think?" I am going to have it replaced.... let's hope that the Passenger side one doesn't go out next! |

I think that's a little insane! The option cost is $250 to have the heated seats added to a brand new liberty at the factory! That's BOTH seats, the controls, and whatever wiring is needed. I hope that cost you were quoted is mostly labor, because if the PART costs that much, there's something fishy going on. |

Yeah, his total was including labor... The element it self is like $40.00. But they have to take the seat put, unskin it, replace the element and reskin the seat... I should ask for them to through in a new leather cover since mine is all cracked up and gross looking now. It's just more money down the toilet because of the cheapness of DCX when they build their cars. |

Go to a car upholstery guy. he can prob do the whole thing for under $100. he can prob make u a new leather seat cover for around what they are charging. Trick is to find a little old guy in the back of a custom car shop that still works with his hands. I had one by me and he used to do all the motorcycle seats for my dealership. His work was fantastic, better and cheaper than any of the "custom" seat places. |

Well, I am going to the dealer tomorrow to pick up the Libby... I just hope that this is all the money that I have to spend to fix my Jeep at just under 40,000 miles. I love the jeep, but DCX has trouble with electrical equipment in their cars. When I first bought my Jeep, the 4wd full time light went out 2 weeks after I bought it. The dealer had to replace the cluster, the switch on the lever, the TC....all for a stinking light. Now, I am picky but if that wasn't under warranty I would have been so mad everytime I got into the Jeep |
