so i live in illinois and it was rather cold this morning. after putting the jeep in reverse to back out, as i applied pressure to the breaks it seemed extreamly stiff. like there was air in the line. the pedal was really stiff and hard to push down. it took a good slow 2 or 3 seconds for the jeep to stop. any ideas of what is wrong.

air will cause the brakes to be spongy. was it cold enough for something to be frozen?

do you have rear drum or disc brakes? best bet is pull the wheels and check the brakes.
