okay... i know not much when it comes to tires, but when i went to air my BFG'S up to their 33 psi, (trip to the g/f's so i checked the tire pressure), i guess i got them all aired up, but the passenger front tire made the dinger go on. when i got there, i used my guage and it didn't even make the guage put out any reading (that's less than 20 psi.)

her dad and i discovered that it is the vavle stem... the little pin top looking thing will not pop out to keep the air in.

should i just take it to the dealer, act stupid and say that my dinger won't go off, or can i fix this myself???

i have tried a million times to air it up, and it just won't stay in the tire!!!

thanks in advance!

Can you use needlenose pliers to free it up? Possibly it just needs a little coaxing to get back to working condition.

If that doesn't work, I'd take it to the dealership.

Sounds like its just the valve in the stem. You can take them out and put new ones in. Any tire place can do it..

I think you can buy them at walmart too.

He's got an '05 so it pretty much has that TPMS stems. Best to let the dealer replace it under warranty.

You can get a valve stem tool and replacement valves from Wal-Mart for around $5.00. Just screw the old one out with the tool and screw in the new one, add air.

Sounds more like the valve core, not the stem. Any tire place can just take the core out and put a new one in. Heck you might be able to do it at an auto parts store.

I have the TPMS too and I take them out all the time. Youve got to take those out so you can deflate the tire and break the bead. Makes it deflate alot faster. :)

dealerships don't know anything about TPMS. Go to a GOOD tire shop and they'll replace the grommet where the stem meets the wheel on the sensor. should be less than $10 for the part, and maybe $15-20 labor.

it's best to let professionals deal with tires, so you have somebody else to blame if something goes wrong;):D

x2.......takes only a minute. The new valve core has a new seal on it. Then you'll have the tool and a couple of extra valve cores for the future. They will fit any valve stem on any vehicle tire.

Must have got a little piece of dirt in there. Make sure you use the aluminum valve cap (they are made to make a better seal on the aluminum valve stems) and put it back on.

Wow, the dealerships around here are useless when it comes to that sorta thing. I've heard of 'em declining warranty stuff on TPMS sensors. must be a good one, riptricket 8)
