Post subject:  My Stealership visit

Ok so today I went to my Stealership to have the LBJ's replaced under recall.
Well yesterday i went by and scheduled an appointment and i figured while it was in there i could get Al's A-arms put on.

SO I told the guy about them and he said, oh yea no problem probably only be like 180 or so.

I brought it in and after an about 30 minutes the guy came in and told me the tech said it was going to cost 410 to install the arms!

So i said, ok no way I'm paying that. about 45minutes later he came out and said " we've got a problem" " my tech guy says since you have the lift it is cause alot of extra pressure and once he gets the bottom loose it would pop out about 4" and would be very hard to put back, and he would have to take the entire system apart so we would need to install the arms anyway"

Does this sound like BS? anyone else with a lift gotten your LBJ's replaced?

TOTAL BS!!!!!! I replaced my own lower ball joints, the lift was already on there and no problems, if they are having problems like that go somewhere else, they are ripping you off!
They dont have to take it all apart to do it, pop the upper ball joint loose, take the lower one off and pull the spindle off, press out ball joint, press new one in and replace. What a ripoff place, no wonder most people dont trust them!

x2.

The lift makes no difference to the work that needs to be done. Same bolts need to be undone etc... I'd call Jeep, or take to anouther dealer.

BS. I replaced my own LBJs w/ no problem in a couple of hours. Because I'm too busy to do it myself at the moment I had the dealer install my Jeepin' Al UCAs, and I think they charged me about $180.

They are jerking your string, just go to a different dealer to do the L.B.J. recall, which is free.

I'm lifted and my dealership has replaced the L.B.J's twice already with no bu11 stinky poo, and no problems.

Then install the A-Arms yourself, as it is a fairly easy procedure.

It'd be nice to post a little "Stealership Blacklist" sticky on the forum to see exactly who out there is jerking people around like this.

1. Tell him the original quote was $180 and they DO NOT have your permission to change the quote to do the work at the higher price.
2. Tell him you are NOT paying the higher price and they need to put the vehicle back in the condition it was in when you brought it in since you refused the work at the higher rate.

Sounds to me like they assume that once they tell you it "has to be done", they expect you to go for it at any price.
If thier "tech" says it "would pop out about 4" and would be very hard to put back" - tell them they should have determined that before they took it apart and you want it in the condition you brought it in.
Also, calling Jeep csr service while you are in the service dept may help. Also ask for the name of the district/regional manager and his contact info as well as the owner of the stlrship and his contact info. If they refuse to give it to you, write down thier name and tell them you are noting for your letter to the BBB and for your lawsuit that they refused to give you the info.

How about we start a list of good dealers, that people have had good relations with. Everything doesn't have to be negative.

my 2 cents
a GOOD Dealer List would be OK but not a BLACKLIST..... you may think that one dealer is terrible but someone else may have great reviews of the same dealer. With posting the good ones for all areas you can kind of see who the not so good are also
Since I havent used a service department at any dealer in over 20 years (even with buying 9 brand new vehicles in that time) I cant comment but would think that would be the way to go!

good idea tom. I had made a thread about not so good dealers and was going to edit it and make a lit of good and bad dealers. It was deleted before i could change it though. I dont really think it should have been deleted but thats not my call i guess. I guess ill try and make another one with the quality and problem dealers. I stil think its a good idea to add the dealers that have given problems in the past so that if peolpe do make the decision to use that dealer they at least know that thet may be expecting so other than quality service.

yea i took it to a place that has helped me several times before and they got it done in 2 hours for 145 bucks...

I think the guy thought i had no idea what was involved in the process and was totally ignorant, but once i started talking to him he started dropping the price down to like 300 (still no way i was paying that).

Leglue in Alexandria, LA has been good to me for the past seven years. Quick, professional service from a friendly staff. Now the sales department is another story

What work have they done for you todate?

I use Carter which is hit and miss (regular OLF, did warranty work in mirrors, lbj work x2, tranny fluid change etc) but for parts Van Chrysler is tops.
