3.7 dont have wires it has coil over plug set up. how deep was this puddle?

if it's got a misfire that bad the check eng light has to be on. pull the codes and start from there.

many years ago a friend of mine was doing something similar with his wrangler. We discovered that the Throttle Position Sensor had fried. if the plugs are ok check that.

Switch the coils and see if the code moves. Check the plug on that coil to make sure its clean and dry. Take the coil off and make sure not water is sitting down around th spark plugs. The seals on the coil make be bad.

If you take the plugs out, be sure to use compressed air to blow all the sand and grit out from around the plugs.

I detailed my engine once and the engine temp sensor got wet. I let it dry for a day or two and it was fine.

There's another one but I can't figure out how to use my step father's pda to get it out... Program says "use up/down buttons to scroll" but there are no frickin' up/down buttons!

So me and my step brother went wheeling today, and came across some "puddles". He went through it fine so I went through it a little faster than I should have and nearly stalled the truck (from the lack of a torque converter [1st gear 4hi], not because water was getting sucked in). A few minutes later the truck started misfiring, and it slowly got worse. The engine won't go over 2500rpm without dying and the thing idles like a 454 with a race cam. What are the chances that once everything dries out, the truck will run fine again? If not, what do you think I will need to replace? Wires? Thanks, Bill

Not quite as deep as the deepest puddle I've ever gone through (at slower speeds), but water did splash on to the hood... as far as the exact depth I have no idea. I did check the air filter and it was dry...

yes pull the code and then you know what you are dealing with, until then we can only guess what it may of done. Tom

Could be a cracked coil pack housing that got wet. find out which cylinder is misfiring if the problem persists, and replace said coil. Check codes, regardless of whether or not you have a CEL.

I'd like to get ones that seal Thanks, Bill think coils are like $40ea. - blow all that water out with an air hose, blow coil out and put back together. if you're lucky the coil didn't short out. if it still misses put a new spark plug and coil in cyl #2.

same thing happened to me about a year ago after going through some deep stuff. i had like a billion codes and the jeep felt like it was going to fall apart. Ended up being a coil pack. I also changed the spark plugs since at like 55k they were still the originals.

There should be a big button in the middle of the bottom section of the pda. Push on the upper part of the button for up and the lower part for down. At least thats how the two pda's I have work.

i went through so big puddles and water wet everywhere it was so crazy that water got inside some how. but ne ways mine runs fine and it hasent had any porb. since the crazy run.

I got a 2002 jeep liberty sport. Throwing a misfire code P302. Changed out all the plugs and the coil pack for cyl #2. Jeep still running rough and dies when put in gear. Help me please. Need to know what I should look @ next or what would cause this. Hit a puddle on Saturday. Jeep ran fine sunday and monday morning. Then everything went down hill. Well just changed the TPS sensor and still no change. Still running rough @ idle and driving. Haven't thrown the code again yet.
